i genuinely wonder why the mig25pd is still 11.0 its broken as hell, i dont think ive ever had a bad match in it. its outright unkillable if played right, and its missiles are just outright better than r24r/t r27r/t

How exactly are they better lmao.

They are roughly inline with R24 in performance (depends on enemy altitude mostly) and R24 carriers are more than a gimmick plane that has to rely on people willingly coming to you

I think after the improvement to non-PD radars in lookdown/ground clutter, the MiG-25 was likely the single greatest beneficiary. Prior to the buff, the MiG-25 was borderline invincible just like now but it was way harder to deal with enemies that chilled lower with ground clutter messing with the radar. But yeah it’s definitely approaching the going to get moved up in BR category.

There have been cases of an F-4 surviving a 12G pull, an F-15 making it back to base with half its wing blown off, an F-35 got hit by SAM and doesn’t immediately explode. Does that mean they can do it every time? Nope. Those are extraordinary, one in a million cases. An exception to the rule shouldn’t be treated as a common occurrence.

Context, it is very important. None of the aircrafts you mentioned were overbuilt because they are made out of material that was rarely used in aircraft production, none of them were put trough USSR tests that at the time didn’t even tried to push airframes to its limit, to, well, know this limit. MiG-25 was tested to withstand PVO demands of 5Gs and that was it.

Actually, aircraft’s ultimate limits are always higher than their safety limit in the flight manual, Mig-25 is not the exception. Aircraft are always overbuilt compared to the requirement because they can’t risk losing hundred millions USD machine just because the pilot accidently passed the safety limit. Human make mistake.
And do you really think every other aircraft is tested all the way to its absolute breaking point, until the airframe literally comes apart in the air? Not necessarily. Structural testing is primarily conducted to demonstrate that the aircraft meets its specified design requirements and safety margins. Knowing the exact point at which the airframe catastrophically fails is not the same thing as establishing its certified operating limit. Besides, an exception to the rule should not be treated as common occurrence. F-35 survive a direct hit from SAM once does not mean it automatically immune to AAM. Similarly, one singular case where Mig-25 doesn’t immediately break up after 11 G pull once does not mean you can always do that. Sometime you are lucky, sometime you aren’t. Moreover, we don’t even know how long the pull last or how heavy the aircraft was when they did that. All we know is that the aircraft survived the maneuver but had to be written off afterward. What if it can survive 11G for 1 second but break at 2 seconds? how do Gajin even implemented that?.

I remember reading that Mig-31 is tested with towed decoy back in 2007, was it ever implemented?
