IRST in narrow mode doesn’t lock targets, not consistently at least. Even if the enemy is detected by it and is flying cold at 2-4 km range. I have manual target selection enabled if that makes any difference
Anyone else have such a problem?

don’t worry, real soviet standard PD doesn’t have RWR or flares either
nvm, they not. Based it on a misread italian mig 25 schematic. Makes sense its the IFF.
Couldn’t find a thing on it on the soviet manual( P variant - the pulse R40R), other that you can’t turn more than 45° to fire a missile. 90° cone of radiation for the receiver or that may just be a launch limit which may be the case too and it just uses the sidelobes for reference. However the seeker of the R40R get aligned to the direction of the antenna while its still on the pylon.
On the image below, on the top you can see what I would assume is the horn for the missile

For the PD,

40° cone frontal. Beyond it and missile it trashed.
Bug report to increase the locking range from 60km to 80km

There is missing description of number 38 and 47.
So it’s for the Smerch radar i take it?
There isn’t, they are at the very beginning. 4,38,47 and 49 - antennas of the IFF
It’s for the USSR PD or the export one?
Yep
Yes, thats not something that would change between them
Export 25 uses Smerch A2, while USSR PDs were equipped with Sapphire-25

Direct hit with an R-40. Poor F-5C, that thing like half of its size
I am sceptical about it. MiG-25 was even not supplied to the Soviet airforce units stationed outside of the Union, and USSR developed a completely new radar because of the Belenko, just to instantly sell it outside? MiG-25PDs inherited by post-soviet countries were equipped with Sapphire-25, sure thing, but the ones specifically sold for export - i doubt it.
It is literally saying it does, along with MTI workings and the R40RD which uses CW…
You have to remember that the PD came around a bit before of the mig 31 which fielded a proper PD radar.
MTI is a a poor man’s pulse doppler radar, its not something special
Ah I see it now. I was blind. :D
I am not saying that MTI specifically is something special, i am saying that entire MiG-25 interception complex was highly classified to the point that radar was completely changed after Belenko betrayal. And the same betrayal gave an export opportunity for MiG-25 and Smerch radar system, so it was installed on export MiG-25PD, specifically Smerch A2 upgraded version with R-60M integration. If you have the source from where you got that screenshot, i would love to check it out fully.
in War Thunder they do. This is where those missing 10Gs from R-77 went
