I have an F-4J with almost 2.0 K/D with majority of my kills coming from said sparrows. Calling them godawful is simply lying. Most of the time people die to R-24 is due to lack of experience (F-4S wallet warriors horde) because in reality - dealing with MiG-23 radar is rather easy. It will absolutely win a dogfight, but before that you have more than enough opportunities to deal with the Flogger.
That’s cute I don’t really care about your KD you could have 14.0 and still be wrong lol. Anyways a 2.0KD with most of them being sparrows on an aircraft that can hold up to six of them means most of your sparrows aren’t hitting otherwise you’d have a higher kd. The R-24 is absolutely a better missile and is much harder to evade then the sparrow which can notably b evaded with such complex procedures such as diving or even doing nothing when the missile decides its just straight up not going to track its target lol.
And the Flogger has more than the ability to deal with a phantom in a dogfight but once again the fact you are sitting here arguing with me about how the mig-23 is actually only slightly worse or equal to one of the most oppressive 12.0 jets in the game is kind of proof alone that it could easily be 12.0 itself lol.
Except i am not wrong, you are just being ignorant.
Show me when i said that R-24R is worse than a sparrow.
And this is a skill issue. Being unable to differentiate between good launch condition and bad launch condition is what you are trying to say here.
Didn’t you say earlier that sparrows are godawful? How an aircraft with godawful missiles can be one of the most opressive jets if we are using your logic?
You literally are it could work fine at 12.0 its oppressive at 11.7.
The R-24 is absolutely a better missile.
Sparrows are pretty well known to have issues with going after the wrong target or failing to properly track the locked target its been in bug fixes multiple times hell the tracking is so bad you can roll the things.
The phantom retains a stupid good flight model with HMD at 12.0 and when it plays 12.0 its rarely facing other SARH Slingers.
Also the Phantom with six sparrows is giving up its IR missiles and gun pod to do so, while the MIG-23 Will retain the same amount of missiles just with four of them being IR missiles and keeping its gun. In a more standard config the Phantom Carries two more missiles total with those being four radar and four IR, but now holds worse dogfighting performance than usually because of the gun pod, as well as the IR missiles its using are worse IR missiles, and the radar missiles are worse radar missiles. So both sides of this involve the phantom having overall drawbacks compared to the MIG-23 just to have a slight advantage in one specific way, mainly being missile count.
So yes I believe that the MIG-23MLD and other variants equal to it could be a 12.0 aircraft.
