MiG-29s in the big '26

I prefer the mig-29n, the fm of the SMT is just too terrible to play it over the N model

It’s factually worse because its 550kg heavier, but most of the time it doesn’t matter and won’t be noticeable, like I said, 5% extra mass is not a big deal unless you are dogfighting the MiG-29N at similar fuel states.

The subpar radar from the MiG-29N is a much worse drawback that actually has an impact, and the limited number of countermeasures to boot.

I probably should finish grinding the 29smt then, I stopped stock grinding it half way through because it just felt horrendous to fly even compared to the standard mig-29

you DON’T have the SMT spaded???

I think it suffers from the same misconception of the F-16D, people look at them and because they look fat go assume the FM is horrendous, but they are just slightly worse than their fit counterparts to the point that the average pilot won’t notice the difference if you could swap their visual models

There is a lot of planes that have a really bad rep due to their state on introduction (Mirage F-1c-200 for example) that are now very good, but many players never got over that initial first impression, R-77s on the SMT are that for me, I frankly still hate R-77-1s despite logically knowing how cracked they are, there is still a little part of my brain sees R-77 and says “you gunna get clapped from 6 times your range if you try to use that”
Give you an idea how bad it is, I unlocked the Su-30SM2 within a week or 2 of its release this is it now:

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF A BAD FIRST IMPRESSION!

Nah, I tried spading the 29smt but since I already have the mig-29n it’s like why even play it

I’ve been told this by many women.

It’s worth it, the Radar and Extra Countermeasures are great.

I’d recommend you try it in sim, It’ll probably perform a lot better than it does in ARB.

It’s a sidegrade to the N, but I still prefer it, purely for the radar (it has extra gimbal and scans better).

I wish I could use the basic R-77 instead of AIM-120 on some jets

Super Hornet with R-77s would be crazy at close range.

F-16s and the AV-8B would also benefit a lot

I’ve never really had issues with the 16s and AMRAAMs…

Then again, PoBIT with R-77-1 does sound super fun.

it is a much bigger deal when you take the fact that MiG-29 FM is already subpar and then you hit it with 5% more weight on top.

Isn’t there also more drag?

They work on the F-16 but I prefeer to play the ones with derby because it’s more fun to fight at closer ranges and surprise people while being semi-defensive. R-77 would be a step above

no, they seem to be the same

It’s subpar against the Su-27 variants, but so are most jets.

On some yes, the issue with most NATO jets is that they have a dead zone that is pretty close to the same for ARH and IR missiles, if someone gets too close for a radar shot, they are almost too close for an IR shot, the issue with the Russian jets is (or was) that by the time an R-27ER is less effective than an R-77 you could probably just use an R-73, now there are obviously times the R-77 is better then ever, but that was a pain to learn the hard way

There might be a difference since gaijin modeled different drags between the F-16D with the spine and F-16C barak with no spine for example, I’m yet to test that for the mig29
