I am assuming it would be like 14.3-.7 or something with a pair of those. Are you expecting gaijin to make them close to unnotchable?
I expect them to be notchable, but with the velocity that they have I think you will basically have to notch way in advance. Which will make them quite difficult to deal with for an average player. Also, iirc MiG-35 can carry 4 of them.
Then probably it would work like a higher tier IRIAF F-14. Subpar avionics and FM carried by the weapons.
But same with fakours, it will mostly punish those who don’t respect it.
Then why would we even need it in this configuration? It’s better to keep it competitive at 14.0 with R-77-1s then push it up into places where it won’t perform at all.
Either way its fine by me. The whole coversation started by trying to make the MiG-29KR, which is currently in game, worth playing by distinguishing it from the MiG-29M which is better at the same BR.
The MiG-35 will be essentially another MiG-29K, which further adds to the pointlessness
We have the 9-41 right now… That’s the tippity top of all MiG-29Ks.
Then as such, this could be the most capable variant with the top armament options, and earlier variants could be found earlier in the line with reduced capabilities, no? With that in mind, this could receive the R-77-1 or later just fine then.
(Either way, the MiG-35 wouldn’t be in the same line, so I’m not gonna talk about it further as it would be redundant of me.)
Well, right now it is pretty distinct, having significantly better flight model and countermeasures at the cost of missile variety. This difference could be made even more significant if gaijin will finally give it HMD that its missing.
And with MiG-35 being MiG-29K but around a ton lighter, with MAW, targeting pod and a bunch of new A2G ordnance i’d say it will be pretty distinct and unique
FM is overall worse than the 29M, and loadout is just worse because R-77 is far more useful than the R-73 with nerfed/bugged gatewidth IRCCM. CM difference is only 64 vs 60
It’s not. It rates better, it turns better. Only real downside is drag at very high speed which is only matter in very few cases
Calibre change makes them significantly better, especially with how hot RD-33s are. Regular calibre CMs can’t even flare R-27ET (happened to me, Su-34 launched one from 10km or so, i was side aspect and it ignored 10 flares that i dumped).
This is the aforementioned trade. Sure i’d rather have 8 R-77s, but it is not as big of a deal overall, you can still use R-73 and get kills with them
Russia does not need anymore missiles that gaijin will buff
It rates better but has worse instantaneous turn too, because its almost 1ton heavier. The 29M can pull more G’s and the instantaneous turn is more useful for the missile jousting.
You also need more fuel weight because you have much higher fuel burn rates, which adds to the extra weight.
And the drag penalty is far more impactful for an actual match than an extra 0.5-1deg/s of sustained turn at slow speeds.
Also the wing rip speed is quite low in comparison (1,470 km/h vs 1,575 km/h)
Climb rate is also worse if you climb at supersonic speeds.
That’s lots of downsides just for a bit extra energy retention, overall it’s just worse.
Sure, they are better, but significantly is a stretch, I think. The MiG-29M engines don’t get that hot so it also balances it out.
R-27ET are very easily flared in most jets, at side aspect even more. Maybe the MiG-29KR has trouble because of the hot engines, harrier syndrome? Look! Another relevant downside now that you mention it.
you can just run the mig-29k at 109 afterburner and its basically the same engines as the mig-29m. albeit a ton heavier
yeah exactly. average arb match mig-29m is better, average duel mig29k is better. but 99 percent of the time in arb you’re not dueling, so in general mig-29m is better because it’s more important to be at high speed slinging off missiles
It still produces quite a bit more thrust at 109% afterburner than the 110% of the 29M, and it will still rate a bit better. The drag is just too much, though.
In terms of temperature, the 29KR is still hotter at 109% than the 29M is at 110
Apart from the speed, the higher G overload / better instantaneous turn is even more important for the R-77 playstyle.
Edit:
Actually, scratch that, gaijin gave the 29KR a bit higher G overload for some reason
i was in a MiG-29M tho…
by around 10 degrees. Large calibre countermeasures have like triple the effectiveness iirc.
I won’t comment of flight performance for now anymore, since i haven’t unlocked performance modules for the KR.
Its more of an issue of lowering it enough to flare the missiles, I am assuming it is a problem because you said you had trouble with R-27ET at side aspect, which is weird unless you are an extremely hot target
