I would like to raise concerns about the MiG-29 Sniper and its current performance in War Thunder, particularly when considering its Battle Rating, frequent uptiers, and reliance on the R-60MK missiles.
At its current BR, the MiG-29 Sniper is regularly placed in uptiers where it faces significantly more advanced aircraft. These opponents often have superior radar systems, better situational awareness, and access to much more capable air-to-air missiles with longer range and stronger resistance to countermeasures.
A major issue is the aircraft’s reliance on the R-60MK. While it is maneuverable, it is extremely limited in top-tier gameplay. The missile has very short effective range, is easily defeated by flares, and struggles to secure kills against aware opponents. In uptiers especially, this becomes a critical disadvantage, as enemy aircraft can engage from far greater distances with far more reliable weapons.
Because of this, the MiG-29 Sniper is often forced into close-range engagements just to have a chance of using its missiles effectively. This exposes the aircraft to higher risk and puts it at a consistent disadvantage compared to other aircraft at the same BR or in uptiers.
Overall, the combination of frequent uptiers and the limitations of the R-60MK results in the aircraft underperforming relative to its matchmaking. It does not feel competitive or balanced in its current state.
To address these issues, I suggest one of the following:
- Provide the MiG-29 Sniper with more advanced or historically appropriate missile options, reducing reliance on the R-60MK, or
- Adjust its Battle Rating to better reflect its current capabilities, especially considering how it performs in uptiers.
These changes would help improve balance and make the aircraft more viable and enjoyable to play.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
