i have being thinking about it and i also saw it in the new loading screen for the MiG-25PD and i still don’t understand: why does the MiG-25PD can only carry 2 R-40TDs if it can carry 4 R-40RDs? the only difference between each other is that one has an IR seeker, and even in the loading screen of the Foxbat it shows how it has 2 internal R-40RDs and 2 external R-40TDs which is the opposite of what we have ingame (2 internal R-40TDs and 2 external R-40RDs).
imo, it should get the 4 R-40TDs since the radar is very bad and it would help a lot to have more IR missiles for a high-altitude interceptor that lacks a gun and good radar.
it doesn’t explain why the loading screen has the opposite loadout of a normal Foxbat.
why can they draw a plane with a loadout it doesn’t have in the same game the drawing is for?

Couldn’t find anything on the MiG-25PD manual but the MiG-25P manual mentions it’s due to “great errors in the homing heads”, a few sources mention that they’re only carried on the outboard hardpoints but then proceeded to only show them on the inner hardpoints so i wouldn’t be surprised if it was just a mistake they fixed last second.
Correction: I have found the MiG-25PD manual mention of the armament stations for IR missiles.
The radar is not bad, for the battle rating and the missiles attached to it, for best flexibility I recommend you loading up maximum one R-40TD, one R-60M rack and two R-40RD, in my opinion making it able to load four R-40TD would lead to a battle rating increase at some point.
