Has anyone else noticed that in the pre-match screen, where you can choose your loadout, spawn point, fuel amount, etc., when you change the distance your Mig 23ML can pickup aircraft, it doesn’t stay what you picked once the match starts? Meaning if I choose 56 miles, 37 miles, or default, it always goes to 19 miles. It is super annoying. Half the time it doesn’t want to switch when you do it manually by using the keyboard and appropriate keys to change it. Just curious if anyone else is experiencing this or could tell me why this happens? Thanks for your time…
IIRC that aircraft’s radar is only capable of working in certain ranges if at a certain altitude (MTI, I think?). Maybe your default you set is a distance/altitude combination that is not possible in the situaion where you see this?
(Haven’t flown any MiG-23 for a while, so on’t remember the exact details…)
This is the case, but MTI is a pulse-doppler “filter” (dunno thne proper word for it) which only happens at low Altitude and when your nose is pointed under the horizon.
It’s altitude based. Iirc once you get over~5km (about 3.2 Miles) then you can set your radar to 19, 37, and 56 miles.
once you drop below that altitude you get put back into 19 miles and can’t change it once you climb again.
ahhhh okay. Makes sense. I appreciate the quick reply my friend. Cheers!
