If anyone has played a Harrier and was forced to dogfight a MiG-21 It probably didn’t end well regardless of engagement situation.
Conversely if anyone playing a MiG-21 saw a lone Harrier and both had no missiles it was probably an easy kill.
Fuel states and weights are listed as well.
I don’t have any MiG-21s or the MF but I test flew the one available in the Russian TT.
I was able to sustain 14.5 Degrees a second on average with 1131 Kg fuel weight.
The Harrier Gr.3 was tested with 1340 Kg very close to the MiG and slightly more as that’s what was used. However I’m not good enough with the MiG to takeoff and do tests with exact fuel weights.
81% throttle is the calculated normal lift thrust setting being 100.5 % rpm on the engine chart IRL.
Even at 110% throttle I could only get around 11-11.5 but it was uncontrollable.
We can see the MiG-21 comfortably can do 14.5 degrees a second controllably, and the Harrier will do 10.5 with extreme difficulty as its all the way up at 20 degrees AOA and is hard to control.
On the sources below we can read that the Harrier was sustaining only 1 degree a second less then the MiG-21 at 250 Knots. If the MiG-21 was comfortable and steady at 14.5 why is the Harrier not at 13.5?
Stated in the document a Harrier using Normal lift rating gives the Harrier good defensive capability against the MiG-21.

You have tested MiG-21S with R-13-300 engine, am i right?
Also, which Fishbed modification the document states? Just curious.

MiG-21 J is MiG-21 MF if i’m not mistaken.
and also yes the premium MiG-21 r-13-300
Correction according to WIKI (might nor be credible) the MiG-21 J starts with the MiG-21 M

Correct. But the soviet MiG-21S have a bit less gross weight than german MiG-21MF. I think there is not much difference between them in sustained turn.

Thank you for the information.
I can try to test it too if you wish, but it’s not fully spaded in terms of flight performance.
I would very much like it if you would. The test pilot cannot sustain G at 500 knots so if you could test sustained turn rate at 500 knots near sea level with that same 3900 lbs fuel weight I would appreciate that.
Surely will do, when i will be free and fully spade it.

Ratefighting on a harrier is your first mistake
It can legit nearly perform equally with the MiG-21 while being heavier. IRL that is.
Seen statements of HRRs lacking 4-5 degs of sustained trt. Some says 2-3, and the performance of a normal HRR should be like the ingame av8b+

I’ve been the guy doing those and sort of. Even if they buffed the Harrier 1 to the level I state it will still turn much less then the av-8b or harrier 2.
about 9.5 compared to 11.5 for equal weights and configurations.
The devs replied but they tested the aircraft 1900 lbs too light and using around 2000 Lbs more thrust and was like cool it matches your claim.
