Britain doesn’t have much to replace it, we could see a Indian Mirage 2000 as a premium without it’s ARH missiles but that’s a bit of a stretch.
I’m just glad my beloved UK isn’t stuck with the god awful F-4J (UK) anymore.

Too many Tornados for my liking, worst modern FM in-game and the literal definition of missile bus.
We could maybe get the Atlas Cheetah as a premium but most people would prefer it as a TT.
Cheatah D
Saudi Tornado F3
Hawk 203
Sea Harrier FRS51
I would never buy the Bison if it got R-77s.
Trust me the Cheetah ain’t that better, iirc it still keeps the old Mirage engine, not sure tho.
There’s also the SAAF F1CZ and F1AZ, the AZ in particular is quite nice because it didn’t use Darters except very briefly so it more reasonably gets more balanced Magic Is and Python 3s.
A decent premium about 10.3/10.7 would be good. Id prefer to avoid SAAF variants of French aircraft if we can avoid it though.
I’d take the Cheetah over the Tornado any time of the week, I genuinely hate how they feel in-game but the Tornados do look awsome however - you’re probably right however.
The F.3 is only good in-game because it sits at 12.0, anything higher would be a hard nah for me.
The only problem with the Torando F3 is the CMs. BOL are insanely weak compared to IRL and we are misisng Phimat pods. Fixing that and the F3 dominates
I also feel like the FM is underperforming, there is no way on earth it’s that obese in real life.
It is. But its as good as we can get with the Sphagetti code, it should have greater instanteous turn but slightly worse sustained. Also its got too much drag limiting top speed slightly and missing combat thrust for an extra boost in engine power.
Also missing PHC (Pilot Hand control) for limited HMS and the overall issues with the radar control without a RIO (or appropriate modeling for something akin to that at least)
But the updated FM, especially with combat flaps that can deploy at anytime, its lovely
Definitely deserves this armament. Won’t be purchasing it unless it received it sometime in the future.
Edit: I caved. Still want R-77s tho :)
I’d prefer it to stay where it is currently, I enjoyed playing both it and the J8F at a lower br without arhs and I’d rather not have another plane I previously found enjoyable be shunted to obscurity for a few better missiles
Would rather not be on the receiving end of top tier spamraam in a 21bis airframe with current short-range r77’s that struggle to outreach the r27r if the target isn’t flying directly at it and a rather limited cm supply+a fm that is not suited for sustained defensive flying
if gaijin ever implemented variable loadout br’s id support it however
Wouldnt there be a possible legal issue regarding dramatically changing the vehicle after people have bought it though? I mean sure people sign T and Cs etc, but there are certain basic things in a lot of countries (especially the EU) which you cant sign away with regards to changes to products you bought being changed by a large amount after the fact unless it is deemed minor, or a necessity (which fox 3 wouldnt be).
Adding R77s would mean a chunky BR increase and a completely different gameplay dynamic. While I personally would enjoy a UK premium fox 3 thrower being added, I dont think it would be completely fair to those who already bought the mig 21 being forced into that if they didnt want to do it.
Likely better off adding a different vehicle with fox 3 capability, perhaps SHAR 51, Hawk 200 series, a Tejas model even (given the number of Hawks and Tejas models gaijin could do 1 premium 1 TT like they did the viggen).
There wouldn’t be any legal restrictions, don’t you remember when Gaijin absolutely butchered the J35XS right after sales ended making it god awful?
Many aircraft have drastically changed over the years and especially premiums and how they feel such as the T-72AV Turms and F-4J (UK).
The Bison wouldn’t be a 13.0 aircraft in my opinion and most likely 12.7 and simply due to the lack of missiles It would carry.
And you need to remember that most 12.7 and 13.0 aircraft get sucked down to 12.0 pretty frequently and the current major issue you’re concerned about is decompression not the vehicle receiving R-77s itself.
I’ve mentioned this many times and will mention it again, the Bison equipped with R-77s would have a similar performance to the IRIAF F-14A.
Both would have ARH but the Fakour-90s would be overall far superior and the host aircraft in general would have a larger kill potential due to significantly more missiles on board like the R-27R1s and AIM-9Ps.
This is published by the Bharat Rakshak and contains the MiG21Bison, It’s birth and the induction process, please read through it to find the use of r77s in the bison.
EDITED IN :
above is a link to a New Channel Post about the bison shooting down of the F16 fighter jet, It includes a few points of which is the Bison having the R77, I know news outlets are not a good source of information but it’s information nonetheless
well known bison has the r-77, its not added as a balancing feature. r-77 are one of the worse and perform similar to r27r1 range wise, and very underperforming missiles rn. if bison gets r77 it can go to :-
13.0 :- too weak, has the worst radar with one of the worst FM for its BR. missiles are fox 3 but not really good. kfir with derbys (similar to r77 performance) atleast has a better fm, wayy better radar and lots more.
12.7 :- too strong, earliest fox 3 carrier other than f14a with aim54.
What About J8F comparision with the Bison having R77s
It wouldn’t be too strong. R-77s are one of the worst ARH missile in the game. For balance gaijin could limit it to be able to carry only 2 R-77s.
