META QUEST 2 / latency and pixelation every 5 or 10 seconds

Hello,

I just bought a Meta Quest 2, which works very well on IL2, but I’m experiencing latency and pixelation issues on Warthunder.

Every 5 to 10 seconds, when I look around, I encounter moments of image freezing and pixelation.

Here is my setup:

  • AMD Ryzen 5 7600 X
  • 32 Gb DDR5
  • 2 SSDs, one of which is dedicated to games.
  • GPU AMD Radeon 7800 XT

I’ve set all the settings to “low” except for textures.

Could you please help me and share your configurations? Because in-game, it’s unplayable to have the image freeze for 0.5 seconds while flying.

Thank you very much, and a very Happy New Year!

Are you launching war thunder through steam? if yes then you can try launching it through the standalone launcher (run launcher.exe in the main game folder)

Very important info missing: How do you connect the Quest to your PC? Via USB-C cable or Air Link?

I started with the cable for my old Q2, then later moved to Air Link via my “normal” router’s WLAN, which worked very well already on my weaker old potato, which I then replaced last summer with a better machine.

When I had to replace the router when it burned out last autumn, I started having issues as you describe, even though it was exactly the same hardware and configuration.

I then looked around and found that Meta themselves reccommend the “VR Air Bridge DWA-F18” WLAN-AX USB-Stick, and since I got this, I have the most stable and performant connection between my PC and the VR headset (Q3 now).

Thanks @Shatore Shatore.
Yes I m launching through Steam, I will try with the standalone

Thanks @Schindibee Schindibee,

Oupps, I ve made an error cause it’s a meta quest 3 and not 2 but it s not very important, my bad…
And in order to reply to your question, yes I ve forgotten, the way I use for connecting my MQ3 is Air Link.
I don’t know VR Air Bridge DWA-F18 ! Thanks for the information.
For waiting it I ve bought an USB C class 3 cable, I don’t know if it will correct my mistake.

I remember having some troubles while using Air Link, though i have pretty weak router so that could be the cause. I usually use usb-C cable and launch it standalone because it runs more stable without steamVR (at least in my case)
