Merkava Armor Question

So today I was looking around at some pictures for the Merkava Mk.4s and came across some images that show the cutaway of the turrets composite armor composition.

My question is where is the backplate shown on these cutaway images in war thunder’s model, and why is there barely any open space in the composition compared to the x-ray for the composite armor in war thunder. The war thunder x-ray shows a good margin of open space as well as no model for the composite back plate as shown in these images.

Could someone tell me where this backplate is and why there is so much open space present in war thunder in between the composite armor and the turret superstructure, I may just be stupid but it seems like something big is missing with the Merkava mk4s turret model.

There is a lot of things wrong with the merks modeling. Gaijin didn’t even take time to model the chains at the back of the turret. The backplate in the turret I’m unaware if it is part of the composite or is structural steel. But yeah the devs know that armor is incorrect and there is a report that has proved it and been accepted. Gaijin just doesn’t think it has armor because of its weight to composition coverage. And people try to say that’s not true and that “gaijin doesn’t base armor on weight” when that’s literally what gaijin themselves said In the merkavas case. The saddest part is they made the KE values effectively worse than RUBBER FABRIC SCREENS.

One thing you simply have to come to terms with is that all Israeli high/top tier vehicles have absolutely botched armor modeling.

Gaijin doesn’t give a damn. We all know it, they know it, everybody knows.

And since Israel is a minor nation with a rather small player base behind it, Gaijin simply doesn’t have to care from a financial point of view.

No matter how vocal the Israeli community would be, it will always lack the purchasing power of the major nations.
