Merkava armor is too weak. here is how to fix it. israel teck tree

Weak Side and Rear Armor: While it’s understandable that no tank has impenetrable armor on all sides, the side and rear protection of the Merkava seems excessively vulnerable in-game. Even moderate-caliber rounds can easily penetrate these areas, which leads to the tank being knocked out from positions that, in real life, might not result in a catastrophic hit. This is especially frustrating for players attempting to make tactical maneuvers where a small mistake in positioning leads to disproportionate consequences.

Frontal Weak Spots: The Merkava’s famed frontal armor seems to be underperforming. Even hits to the front, where the tank should excel, often result in critical damage. In real life, the Merkava’s frontal armor is heavily reinforced with advanced materials designed to withstand high-velocity kinetic rounds, yet this durability is not reflected properly in the game. This makes engaging enemy tanks head-on a far less viable strategy, diminishing the strengths that the Merkava is known for.

Raam Sagol Specific Weaknesses: The Raam Sagol variant is a specialized version of the Merkava that should theoretically offer even better protection in certain areas, yet in-game it feels even more vulnerable than expected. The turret and hull seem particularly prone to penetrations that should otherwise be mitigated by its armor. I believe this variant requires specific attention to its armor values, especially since it plays a key role in certain battle ratings.

Enhancing Frontal Protection: Reassessing the frontal armor model to better reflect the Merkava’s real-life strengths would allow players to use the tank’s unique defensive advantages more effectively.

Adjusting Side Armor Penetration: While it’s fair that side and rear armor should be weaker than the front, the current vulnerability is too extreme. Slightly boosting the thickness or applying more realistic damage modeling could improve the tank’s survivability without compromising balance.

Raam Sagol Armor Upgrade: Specifically for the Raam Sagol, I suggest increasing the armor protection around the turret and lower glacis. This variant is supposed to excel in certain environments, but right now it falls short of expectations.

Thank you for taking the time to consider this feedback. The Merkava is an iconic tank, and improving its armor in-game would not only make it more realistic but also more enjoyable to play. I believe these changes would provide a fairer and more rewarding experience for players who choose the Merkava line.
