Okay but it’s easy to ambush the tank in a heavily urban area and basically ignore frontal armor, which is why Merkava is so heavy. It has to have armor on all sides in order to give adequate protection and most other tanks don’t really need to think about that scenario.
Pair that with the fact their neighbors are still in 20th century regarding their ground units, expecting Merkavas to be some 600mm+ KE shell eater doesn’t make sense.
Yes, that’s right. So in reality, the front alone can withstand 3BM42 to a certain extent, and since we’re anticipating threats beyond that (KE-W), I argue for over 500mm. Based on that, and considering the game’s data, I stated that since I can’t provide evidence it can withstand KE-W, the front hull alone should be 500mm KE.Well, 480 is fine, I guess…
It should be able to stop BM42 and things up to 500mm of penetration, but anything more than that gets exponentially more unlikely with increasing the capability of the rounds.
I already call it “i got merkavad” when i try to reverse into cover , my engine gets hit and i can’t shoot back because of a wall or a stupid bump.
Can’t get worse in that regard.
“Oh u wont even belive what happend next”
Now u not only get ur engine disabled but also the power systems and i think also turret basket but im not sure
