Merkava 4 armor is long overdue to be buffed

Its a start and if the merk4 will have a good turret armor with the fire power it has it will be amazing tank just behind the leos and the t series

Well the problem with that is the merkava has terrible mobility as is. It technically has better mobility irl than in game

IRL we are talking a max speed of 60 km/h, with power to weight ratio of 18,75. Currently, ingame Merkavas weight is 65t (should be 80) and their p/w is mostly on par with other tanks.

Idf stated its 64kmh so gaijin right on this one

Gotta love how gaijin won’t fix its weight and armor, but at least they got the top speed right… lmao

Idk if it’s just me, but that thing doesn’t scream 170mm to me…

Idk if I’m seeing things at this point, but how is the outer NERA 30mm thicker whilst appearing smaller on X-Ray?

I actually bug reported this one, and it didnt last long before they just shut it down with no explanation whatsoever

Also merkava use slera not nera

I´d say thats a partial description. A more complete one would be to say that Merk 4 armor is a hybrid between passive and reactive armor, whereas the SLERA/NxRA represents the reactive part of it. I recommend reading my article for understanding this.

Yes, both modules look like they have different thickness but the part closer to the turret has been so far very difficult to measure for lack of adequate pictures.

But the section that hinges forward indeed its about 150-170mm thick so Gaijin got that right.

But the armor value is wrong also the engine should absorb spall and eat some rounds toogether with spall liner

That goes without saying. Though the limit I estimate for the part that hinges forward, for what it can stop on its own without the projectile advancing to the engine itself are APFSDS up to DM33-BM42 level. Anything with better penetration than that will go through and at least will kill the engine.

Still, an improvement over the current ingame situation.

How’s the bug report going (If at all) :D

Not yet. Next step is an additional article with other patents I’ve found after the first one. These support many of the thesis present in the first article.

Our lord and savior fr

There is any chance the hull could stop bm60?
Even with sacrifice power pack

Highly unlikely, even at long ranges. I estimate the UFP armor to be equal to about 480-500mm. So I don´t think its likely to stop Svinets even sacrificing the powerpack. If Merkava 4 armor modules were upgraded over the years (of which there is no evidence yet) then perhaps nowadays it can.

If the ufp is equal to 500 mm so the power pack should stop the the round
Dont forget u have also 30mm between the power pack and the crew

love random people “estimating” how effective modern tank armor is in millimeters at stopping something. give real sources, because personal opinions about how effective something should be like that arent worth anything.
