Meet the Winner of Thunder CUP 2025: Team Hide!

Last Sunday, Thunder CUP 2025 came to an end. After three weeks of intense battles and three different kinds of tournaments, a 4v4 tank format, then a 4v4 jet format and to end a 5v5 mixed format, Team Hide became the Grand Champion of 2024 after winning Thunder CUP 2025!

Congratulations to Team Hide! Their victory was very impressive — they secured first place in the tournament even before the last week finished!

The Thunder CUP Podium

In the overall ranking, Team Hide ended first when AVReS and BoisInHell finished with the same total points. However, AVReS officially takes second place thanks to their two victories over BoisInHell, while BoisInHell won just one match against AVReS. Congratulations to them!

Looking back at Thunder CUP 2025...

Week 1 — 4v4 Ground

Thunder CUP kicked off on January 31st with 4v4 tank battles! The matches were full of surprises and pure action, with some unexpected twists along the way. Teams BoisInHell and Hide made it further than many anticipated, while DODEC was eliminated sooner than expected by AVReS and LEET. In an incredible double final, AVReS managed to secure victory against BoisInHell. Hide reached 3rd place after coming back from the loser bracket.

Week 2 — 4v4 Air

The second week of Thunder CUP came with 4v4 jet battles and was absolutely thrilling, with intense dogfights pushing every team to their limits! Team Restart surprised everyone by winning against Hide. But Hide didn’t lose their confidence — they took first place with an outstanding performance, winning 4 matches in a row in one day! Their captain, Shark, dominated the skies. Despite giving it their all, BoisInHell once again finished in second place this week. Only 5 points separated teams Hide and BoisInHell on the leaderboard!

Week 3 — 5v5 Combined

The final phase, 5v5 mixed (tanks & jets) of Thunder CUP 2025 delivered an incredible showdown, with fierce matches until the very last round. By the end of Saturday, Hide had already secured at least 4th place, which was enough to guarantee their Thunder Cup victory even before the grand final. The fight for first place in this final tournament came down to AVReS vs. DODEC. Even though the overall ranking was already locked (AVReS in second and DODEC in fourth), DODEC gave it their all. After a first loss against AVReS, DODEC fought their way through to the victory of the 5v5 mixed tournament!

All teams in Thunder CUP fought valiantly and showed some of the best action ever in tournaments. We congratulate and thank them for their participation!

When will spall lined vehicles be available in the ground vehicles tournament pool? It gets tiresome to watch the same 2022 meta like 3 years after.

Did you even watch?

The third week included 2q7v, 2a7hu and the likes for other nations

I meant for the ground vehicles tournament (1st week), not the mixed ground.

Oooohhhh, now this is intriguing.

Cool news for that 0,01% of community who cares about it

And selling some camouflages as packs is weird

Don’t need a crutch if you’re just good. I’d prefer them not adding that crap.
On the off topic, “Cold War” bracket being called that when it has top tier from 2000s and later is r*tarded, change it Niika ty

The current pool has singlehandedly given false arguments and straightup gaslight to many people who watch tournaments into telling that some nations are highly competitive at top tier, when they’re not that good. Even the air tournaments have ARH, a fairly new tech, yet ground ignores its last additions in order to be stuck in a meta dated 3 years ago. If Gaijin adds top tier stuff to the ground tournament, they’ll be forced to balance vehicles further in the near future. That’s why its needed.

I mean, just about how much does that tell you about top tier then? It’s a clusterF@&/. Even top tier air had to cut corners.
You saying they’ll be forced to further balance thing if they do X fo lineups means jack poopie, the devs DO NOT CARE about the tourneys, there’s a separate team for that ( they’re sucky but whatever).
Ever heard of prop and 2nd/3rd gen jet tourneys? Yeah well that and classic WW2 tanks are where the real balance was (and skill).
Top tier tourneys are just there so that some attention lacking zoomers can get a little dopamine then drop the thing a second later and tab out to get drops.
I’ve been looking at this part of the community for way too long, trust me.

And yet, you are here commenting on it and as far as I remember from streams, packs were very popular.

PS. Please be aware that 0,01% (the number you made up, not actual number) are still big for multimillion community :)

Given that those packs were popular, will some money from that go to further ESR development and maybe get Niika to “move in his chair a little” or will things go from bad to worse?

That’s a key point, even if they’re separate teams on those aspects, if tournaments expose how the current top tier stands while being played by “the best of the best” should be a testament on how flawed the current meta is, opening a window to fix it on short term.

Trust me, it won’t. Been a thing for years. Just forget it, plus people don’t “watch” it anyway. ( I think the meaning of that isn’t hard to understand)
“Best of the best” is also a very subjective thing, and I’m not pointing any fingers… ( Still a minor problem though)
The only meta they care of is money and hype so they can bait a poor soul that clicked on the ad to spend 80€ on the game then drop it cuz it doesn’t understand how this works and things aren’t how they seem on the ad. ( For legal reasons i shall not say much more)

Ban sim control from AAB duels when? :p

I would like to suggest making the skins for the Eurofighter universal. I would love the boys in hell skin on a Typhoon but I am not going to do the german air tree.
