The big difference is payload, the PBM-3 has a much better payload than the 1, due to the sea mines which are better than 1000 pounders last i checked with obscene tnt filler. The 5 retains this payload and doubles its 50cals, so it’s a flat-up improvement, it’s just been a file lurker like the welkin for just over half a decade.
Fomo is an issue, but i have not really experianced it from these BP and grind event vehicles since that 152mm object that came out a while back. The issue is these Copy pastes and reruns are effectivly duds as they are not worth the price of admission. Something like the Avre last month is a good oddball vehicle, as your not missing out on something good, and due to its meme potential and lack of combat viablity in game, it is still cheap on the market, if you really want it.
Yes, the unrealistic use of sea mines as air-to-ground ordnance is the only actual difference there. But they couldn’t have lowered the -3s BR to what it should be anyway, cause then they’d have a rank II 2.3, cause the rank is locked by their policy.
If sea mines ever performed in Air modes for basebombing like they really would (just thump into the ground and do nothing), it would barely be a 2.3.
Aye, in honesty the 3 is well worth getting, as if you skirt the side you can wipe the board with the aforementioned sea mines, i see this repeating with the 5, as you can climb to space in arcade and loiter, or kite in rb like the 3, though now your more prickly due to the additional 50 cals. The ability to land on a runway due to it being the amphibian version is also an upgrade, as your not chancing belly landing to repair and rearm, plus you can now j out if your team is scuppered.
Just another nail in fleet coffin. Make them tradable for those who have them all or just equivalent in GE. Otherwise it’s diminishing reward for loyal players, which is not fun and not fair .
You can land flying boats on airfields in the air modes just fine now, that’s no advantage. In fact it’s a disadvantage because the -3 returns as an air spawn while the -5 will have to take off again if it lands w/d.
Even without the sea mines the PBM-3 still carries twice as many conventional bombs tho
the ability to leave if your team gets clapped is a straight up improvement, worth the turn around time in my opinion, as it saves you a repair entirely, as you can just bounce if your last man standing.
Aye, the wings were strengthened, this was retained in the 5, which also got even more powerful engines, so its the definitive version of the aircraft. It has been a file lurker for years, and i am glad it has finally cropped up.
Wow this is lame as hell, why would anyone but Israel players buy this (and they already have 2 artillery wagons anyways)
I am a bit perplexed as to how “scandals” like this keeps happening. Why can’t there be praiseworthy and alltogether positive news?
There always has to be something that makes me feel uneasy or alienated.
Are you telling me that nobody at the company considered how players would feel about the removal of yet another vehicle reward from the BP?
I like this game and would like to see it grow and improve - for it to be something I can be proud of and confidently recommend to friends.
In fact, I have a steam review out (negative) and I’m waiting every day for something to come along that compels me to change it.
Unfortunately it seems we’re in a loop of a few baby steps forward, and then suddenly a big step backwards.
Is Gaijin out of touch? Or do you know what would make players happy, but you either can’t or don’t want to do this?
Sorry to say, this makes me even more concerned about the coming Nation RP bonus.
I’m super hyped by this new system, did you’ll keep this idea in the future?
Can we hope to get our hands on the BP’ EBR for example, on future BP?
If i already have 3 of the 4 naval vehicles and i get this trophy, am i guaranteed to get the fourth one i dont already have? Or is it goung to be completely random and I’ll end up with SL because i have 3 of the 4 vehicles in the box? This might be a deciding factor on whether i buy the BP or not this time around.
Its just a mood atm, this and the recent boat grind fest are both generating the same amount of interest in my circle of friends who still play this game. It just seems like a uniform “meh, not going to bother,” which when the intentions of this was to get people to play the game and potentially pony up brass, its an intrinsic failure. Its weird to say that i wont be playing a summer grind session for war thunder in the first time in what has to be a decade, with my squad, as nothing here is enough to draw us away from going down the pub, or dare i say even touching grass.
I would presume it is like the decals/ tanker portraits in the battle pass shops previously, as if you have them all you are given the sl, until then you get one of them at random, so the sl would serve as the item of last resort.
Not to forget you pay for the BP boosters and they have timers…
Just a thought, but have you considered that they might want to have the vehicles that they actually built? The M109 is just import crap that gaijin added because they were too lazy to model stuff like the Sholef or the AS-90
Another nail in the coffin of naval gameplay.
Holes in lineups, massive compression, took 2weeks to even acknowledge the disastrous Fragmentation bug.
Now they are scrapping events, and can’t even be bothered to have a newly made model for a variant/modification of a tree vessel instead relying on old premiums that could have gone in the BP shop rotation instead.
Why do I feel they are strangling the mode so they can divert all effort elsewhere and shut it down to due to lack of player numbers and indifference which they themselves are at fault for! ?!
SL seems very underwhelming too for the replacement of a premium vehicle. I would propose something of equal value to help with the grind like premium vehicles provide. Maybe a random talisman for a vehicle in the same BR bracket as the vehicles in the loot box?
They aren’t scrapping events and they didn’t say there wont be any new ships in future BPs.
