Meet Armour Breaking Ambusher, the 12th season of Battle Pass

For many types of vehicles that aren’t equipped with super sturdy armour, attacks from the flank and ambushes are one of the main ways to achieve victory. The SPz 12-3 LGS, the main prize of the new War Thunder Battle Pass season, is one of such vehicles — and that’s why this season is called “Armour Breaking Ambusher”!

Note: from season 12 onwards, Battle tasks and some battle pass challenges can be completed in Air or Ground SB!

To receive Battle Pass rewards, you need to regularly log into the game and complete tasks and challenges. Each level of Battle Pass will earn you a prize, be it a player icon, a loading screen, a title, decals, decorations, or new premium vehicles!

Every season there’s a new set of awards. See the full list in the Battle Pass tab in the hangar, or check out our wiki. Here are the key awards for season 12:

MC 485

Italy, rank III, Premium

A German S-38 series torpedo boat that received updated armament of a pair of 40mm Bofors auto cannons, new torpedo equipment and a navigational radar in Italian service. Its excellent speed and handling allow it to easily perform torpedo attacks, capture points and manoeuvre among islands and rocks.

B7A2 (Homare 23)

Japan, rank III, Premium

A carrier-based torpedo bomber with a new experimental Homare 23 engine. A fast and agile aircraft for its class, made even better thanks to a more powerful engine, it is very comfortable to carry out dive or level bombing.

SPz 12-3 LGS

Germany, rank IV, Premium

APC SPz 12-3 (SPz lg) equipped with an American M40A1 106 mm recoilless cannon with HEAT rounds. It handles off-road and low hills with ease and pierce through defences of most tanks — it’s a real Armour Breaking Ambusher!

About the Battle Pass

If you’ve got two Coupon Upgrades from stages in the previous season, then you can claim the new Battle Pass for free! Exchange them in the purchase menu of the Armour Breaking Ambusher season.

Battle Pass is a seasonal event that allows the players to earn many rewards, from Silver Lions and boosters to exclusive season prizes: decorations, profile icons and premium vehicles. The rules are simple: you earn progress points and use them to open new stages, earning valuable prizes in the process.

You can open new stages and receive awards at any time during the season.

You can access the “Battle Pass” window through the promo block on the right side of the hangar screen.

How to participate

Play

  • You get progress points every day for entering the game.
  • From 1 to 5 points.

Complete Battle Tasks

  • See Battle Task descriptions in the game and get progress points for completing them.
  • From 2 to 5 points.

Complete Season Challenges

  • Season Challenges are very similar to Battle Tasks. One Challenge is available at the season’s start. Every week you get another one or two challenges, three more can be unlocked by opening stages.
  • 30 points.

Looks pretty good, specially the profile icon.
Still, we could have the 4th reward back and increase the next battlepass vehicles´ rank.

Yeah I agree. The low tier ground vehicle was the reason I bought the battle pass both times

I really hope Warbonds will have some nice vehicles this BP. These 3 BP vehicles are not worth to play for it. 2 copy paste vehicles and a useless tank as I don’t play tanks. If not it’s the first BP I will skip.

Tip: Come with some real new vehicles instead of copy paste ones.

I just wanna mention that I can see a huge outcry for/against this decorator,
Crawler-type drone, being added as an actual vehicle . . especially one that Otto Matically shoots down CAS . . . . all by itself . . . . . lol
Imagine that . . . . . make it so . . . . .

A lot of the BP challenges are not achievable for somebody who only plays air. All BP challenges should be achievable with air, ground, or navy. You’re excluding a big portion of your player-base. This is getting ridiculous.

BP challenges require too much time away from the parts of the game that I like to play. The juice is not worth the squeeze.

It doesn’t shock me all that much, as the completion of these challenges shows the versatility of a player who succeeds in all of them.

And the same can be said of challenges requiring aerial action: those who play only in tanks or boats won’t be able to do everything.

Let’s say they could at least let players who play only one branch of military pick the vehicle of that given branch.
That would mean instead of receiving a vehicle at a given step of the battlepass, players should earn a coupon like during the crafting events.
But like my fellow french mate, I’m not disappointed by the fact some challenges requires specific game modes.

Does the BP start instantly after last one finishes?

Like others before me i don’t like that the battle pass, season challenge are divided between the 3 game mode, ground, air and fleet.

Since i am a GFAB player these are the seperate modes, unlike GFRB, where you can achieve ground and air at the same time.

I have very little interest in air and ships, and this charts me a lot of 30 point challenges.

Unlike the daily task which can only be achieved twice regardless of which mode you play, you can do the tier 2 and 3 only once a day.

Not unlike the challenges, where certain specific can only be done with the correct size of cannon or bomb. Or kill blue water with coastal torpedo attack but at very close range.

I like the other thing which was brought up, i play GFAB so i only get tokens for that vehicle. No “useless” planes and ships, which I’m never going to use.

Or give season challenges a game mode choice, so you can compete in the mode of your choice and not be forced to play a mode you don’t like or want to play.

Then don’t do those challenges?
Those challenges are only needed if you’re going for max level.
I got to level 64 barely playing the game and doing extremely few challenges.

Yup. You can check it by clicking on Battle Pass tab in hangar. At top of the screen you will see timer.

They want you to try out things you haven’t tried before. It is good for your brain, especially if you are old.
