I’m sure this is fair to 5.3-6.3
Isn’t that generally how it goes with fast aircraft? Me flying my P-47D-28s is also not fair for 4.0-4.7 and some others in higher brs. Its the curse of boom 'n zoom one trick ponies. The margin of error is also roughly the same.
I would argue that 5.3 and 5.7 props often end up a little slower and with less powerful engines than 6.0 - 6.7 props.
This means 262 is thrratened a little less and the line it has to balance is not quite so fine.
Personally I would not mind 6.3 since I would have a great time at that Br but the enemy players are on average not better or worse than the people playing 262.
To make the Swallow as busted as Ariete it would probably need to be below 6.0 or something.
Of course it would never be quite the same since Ariete is a energy monster where 262 is not.
Massive difference between 850kph versus 550kph
I agree to the first part - but imho you second part does not cover the “easier to use aspect” of props vs 262s. So even if both players are equally skilled the fights i see between average players boil down to infinite head-on loops from both parties - with the already addressed disadvantages of MK 108s.
Even as the picture changes slightly as soon as skill increases on both sides the overall challenges are the same.
That means that flying 162s or 262s vs 5.3 props (like the 6.3 Ki-84 with 30mm cannons which is a 5.3 performing prop) effectively requires an ultra boring play style and and even higher level of patience - simply because of the fact that energy / speed management of those jets is way more demanding than flying a prop.
Have a good one!
The average speed I have in most cases when going for it with a P47 is 700-740kph so the difference is smaller (people really have become allergic to climbing) but effectively, in both cases the aircraft which has to deal with you will be left behind unable to do anything unless you make the mistake of turning. Additionally, P47 have a considerably higher chance to hit something when making their approach which also have to be accounted for.
Granted, Last I played was three matches while grinding Germany before sabres and migs were moved to 8.0 before giving up out of frustration but I can’t imagine the situation has improved in any form since then.
Maybe I spade the basic me262 and try not to rip out all of my hair after the event, I have gained way more experience since then, but frankly I really don’t think its going to be in any form enjoyable.
Edit: Looked it up, was only 2 before I gave up.
Fair point
700+kph is your dive speed. You think a 262 is getting beat in a dive by a prop?
…no, and that was not the point. The point was that for a 4.0 a properly played p47d-28 is untouchable because of the speed, the same way a me262 is for a 6.0. The numbers may be different, but for all intents and purposes the result is the same and the margin of error is roughly the same.
Again, this is just my personal experience of mostly dealing with them in 6.0s, but me262 are not a threat as long as you look around. Any other 7.0 jet I agree they should not be lowered but 262s punish the unaware and not really anyone else. IMO A br of 6.7 won’t break the bracket like the BMPT did its own.
The gap is larger between the 262 and props
People need to think about reducing compression not increasing it
Effectively, the gap does not matter you are not going to touch them in either case with an aircraft a whole br below as long as they are properly flown.
And I agree with you on the compression bit, and if GAIJIN actually did that I would not say anything about a 6.7br for the 262, but until that happens a 0.3 reduction won’t break the bracket.
I am going to spade the thing next weekend but I sincerely doubt its going to change my opinion.
The gap being larger means there is less difficulty in maintaining it…
Not how gaijin works
At the cost of quite a number of other stats like energy generation and the significantly lower kill probability compared to what you have in the p47. Which means that the need for a reduced difficulty in maintaining the speed advantage is quite a bit higher in a me262.
Sadly, yes. One would only need to look at Yak-3u and the zeroes to know that.
Me262 has way better energy generation above 600kph than props, just to be clear
I wonder why you have such a strong opinion when you barely played the Messerschmitt 262.
At the end of the day Messerschmitt can be decent if not facing jets that are straight up superior.
Props are dangerous and you are walking on a tight rope against them.
Props can reach very high speeds in a dive and if the 262 turns to much the prop will stay behind you for to long.
Especially in a match with multiple props they will be above you. If they pay attention it is really risky to make a move against them even if you stay below them with a high energy state. Granted most people can’t deal with that but that is not due to the planes they are playing.
If you dive early you will get a guaranteed kill or 2 but expose yourself possibly make it impossible to regain position if a player with a fast prop is attentive.
Especially because of the team compositions your impact on the match often is nothing to write home about.
In ME 262 you will survice in a downtier every time if you don’t take risks. The more you want to achieve in it the higher the risk. A bit like a F-104 back in the day but with less ammo, worse ballistics, worse acceleration in many situations and less of a speed advantage.
At 6.7 you are put into matches where you will most likely not survive if you don’t leave after diving on a AD-2/4, F3D-1 or similar and they would both still be dangerous if the average guy diving for a base at the start of the match were a little less mindless.
6.7 would be a start, 6.3 would be amazing but there are still 7.0 jets that are straight up superior.
I really do not see the issue. I did quite well in 262 because I played rather carefully.
My K/D in all 3 historical 262 is quite robust but the ratio between kills and spawns is quite tame in comparison.
Because I realize the game has horrible BR compression issues and I don’t support making it worse. People just downplay how much the 262 curb stomps props because they want to experience a meta where the 262 is good even if it means its overpowered.
Compression is a general issue.
Compared to some aircraft 262 might be over powered if it was 4.7.
The goal is to make it competitive without making it overbearing.
6.7 would be reasonable. 6.3 would be pushing itthough it would not be unthinkable.
Might be?
It’s unthinkable to anybody who understands BR compression.
Compared to balancing nightmares we already have.
To Gaijin such placements clearly are not unthinkable.
Okay, played 18 matches while spading the basic 262. Do note, currently all the 8.0s get sucked up to the f3h spam and thus I was fighting against props in 14 out of 18 matches. This dilutes the me262 experience in uptiers, but for the purpose of the threat it was rather fortunate, though I will test it again once the f3h spam stops or when it gets its uptier.
Now, seeing it from the 262’s perspective, really the main reason why props got killed by me flying the 262 was 1) people going into a stall and wasting all their speed or 2) their inability to fly defensively; No, simply turning away is not good enough to dodge the shots of an incoming plane, even one equipped with mk108s.
Any prop who knew what they were doing I had to sweat to kill or was straight up unable to. This does correlate with my experience of flying said props that most of the time 262s are a minor nuisance unless they catch you with your pants down.
On an unrelated note, the SAPHE belt is really nice to use against bombers.
