Hell no, the falloff of squadron vehicles going from good and interesting all-rounders as free alternatives to premiums to a collection of shitty unbalanceable slop planes is one of the worst things to happen to War Thunder in the last couple years
except thats not what they are they have no bonus of a premium they arent even a alternative what squadron vehicles are is basically a tech tree vehicle that you unlock without going through the tree
usually with things like SU33 for example there a upgrade or alternative of the tech tree plus its not like we cant have both
i think its fine if we add vehicles such as F117 for example that dont fit well in the tree if anything its perfect they add both as its not like its the only thing there doing for squadrons as they still add things like the JAS39D which is nice or F35 for example they do both
they work basically as AIM-9Bs if not better at hitting slow targets like stalling targets or oblivious it will work itll just take skill is all like the Sea vixen
the problem with AIM-4s on the 106 is the low speed of the super falcon, it will only reach around mach 1.53 from a stationary launch, the regular falcons on the F-101B and F-102 however, will reach mach 2.1-2.2 under similar conditions, they are not going to be inherently worse and may end up being more effective overall for the needs of the game

A significant speed increase for the AIM-4D would definitely help.
Sea Vixen isn’t a great comparison though… the Red Tops have massive warheads and a proxy fuse.
Don’t get me wrong… if F-101B is added, I’ll play it… I just hope we get a cannon armed version too because I think the F-101B will be an extremely high skill floor vehicle. Unless it also gets Genies, that is!

Gaijin really needs to stop skipping aircraft models, where’s the 101A? (Especially since my 101A suggestion was the one passed to the devs lol)
maybe the A will be added as a premium, who knows. They don’t show everything in trailers
Reminder that this is just the trailer. They could be adding the F-101A or the F-101B, not everything is revealed in the trailer.

If I believed the MCU trailer was everything I would believe Thanos won. People need to wait until Dev server or the Dev stream. How sad.

Yeah, but that doesn’t always mean it’ll come. Being passed to developers means the devs are aware of it. They could have other plans for it (eg an event) or we just don’t know if its in the game this update since we only saw the F-101C in the trailer and we’re still missing on average 20~ vehicles from the update.
As a suggestion mod, its still completely down to developer discretion how they add it and if they add it.

I didn’t find it in the CDK, or the models for the AIM-4s it would use, I think that, very sadly, I’m going to close the book on the 101B coming this patch and probably anytime soon

Current specs of the F-101C in dev server. Ironic that the century series seems to gravitate around 9.3, but a good radar + rwr might make it decent in sim.

This suggestion will soon be closing and moving to the Implemented section after the update. I have opened a dedicated gun-armed F-101 Voodoos thread in the Machinery of War section.
We can work together there to identify, document, and address any remaining issues with the aircraft.
