Massive suffering related to Sea Vixen 9.0 Premium jet

Why? This jet looked promising, bought it, played it, did well the first couple matches.
1 week later; F104, MIG19, MIG21. While everyone is crying there eyes out over how OP this jet is, damn, this thing is a literal waste of time. This used to be 8.7, and now 9.0???

Lets talk missiles first, red tops: 12G, rear aspect (while they should be all-aspect anyway), large explosive load, 6KM lock range. Sound promising right? Well not in practice, any uptier, even the slightest, any jet can outrun these missiles, the only, and I mean the ONLY chance you will get a kill if someone fell asleep spawning their bomber, lining up perfectly 180 degrees behind target, firing the missile at 2-3km and pray to the lord. Myself? I focused killing AI, they fly straight and make weak turns. Forget going after players, by the time you try to intercept, your team is there faster, with more gunpower and much greater efficiency. If you, however, manage to get a missile fired, it might lock onto your teammates, digging a SL debt. Repeat this process 3-4 times and you are back to base. No assists, no hits, no kills, no points. Nothing more than a waste of time.

The jet itself: speed is good, agility is good, at 8.7. NOT at 9.0+. Can and will be outrun, outturned, outgunned, because yes this jet does not have any guns.

I can not imagine why this jet suffers from uptiers this bad, not even to speak about the recent BR increase. If I’m talking nonsense please say so, but anyone else that follows my rant; make Gaijin realize.

advocate for more decompression not more compression, there are a lot of planes around that area which should go up

I agree with the OP, the Sea Vixen was an awesome Premium, very enjoyable and a great grinder. But Gaijin just had to raise its BR.

Max range to launch in a chase is around 1.5km.

It is a compression issue. The sea vixen sucks vs anything with flares but it dominated when it had 7.7-8.7 matches.

Should never have gone up, was 0 justification for it. But now it has, literally. O excuse for red tops to not get their missing all-aspect lock

The main justification would be that it shouldn’t really be facing 7.7 jets that can’t compete with its performance, but that’s a BR compression issue more than a Sea Vixen issue

Maybe. But the sea-vixen is out turned by a lot of aircraft below it and isnt even necessarily the fastest aircraft at that range. Multiple other aircraft are faster than it like the Scimitar.

Unlike quite a few, the Sea-Vixen is extremely easy to defend against, even in any 7.7 just bait the Red Top and then turn slightly, 100% guaranteed missile defeat. All of my kills are against distracted targets or people who had bled all their speed.

Now it faces nothing but aircraft with CMs and I might as well just run Bullpups instead of Red Tops, they’ll be just as effective in A2A combat. Sea Vixen should not be seeing 9.7 aircraft, let alone now 10.0 aircraft that are supersonic, have CMs and decent missiles

It really is a compression issue. It did amazing in 7.7-8.7 matches but after like 9.3, it cant do much of anything. Anything with flares is immune.

Like you, i am still waiting for the proper modelling of the red top, and sraam…

Putting it back to 8.7 wouldnt exactly make 7.7 unplayable but it was just too easy to play in those full downtiers.

3km works fine but only if you are higher and the enemy isn’t going mach1+

Depends on the situation and what the enemy does. I personally dont fire from more than 1.5km out unless they are low energy. At very high alt, i might go for 2-2.3km out

Due to the lack of guns, i dont fire the red tops unless im very sure it will have the energy to hit.

Yeah I got 1 day testdrive for its it isn’t the best but still good at 9.0
