@DevilO6 Know anything about an “enhanced” Marksman turret? The caption seems to imply that one was tested on this Leopard 1, albeit without the HDTI camera.
This excerpt claims that
- The HDTI camera provides thermal imaging for the commander and gunner via their respective sights.
- The enhanced Marksman was developed for the Challenger 2.
- Ammunition includes a new Oerlikon-made FAPDS round, and with appropriate modifications, can also support AHEAD already utilizied by towed 35mm GDF guns.
Don’t know the original source for either of these images, they were found on this Twitter post.

HDTI. Yes, it did existed, but it kind of hard to pin point what it looked like. Most likely it is this (next to the radar)
Hard to find any info proving without any doubt it was for Cr2, and that it used FAPDS, certainly possible. I have not see any marksman with AHEAD coils.
It is surprisingly hard to find concrete info on the Marksman turret.

no. the operating country is the defining factor. in finland we mounted marksman on our leopard hulls. but we used it so we got the vehicle and thats how it works. who does it gets it.

They certainly look as if they are from a more modern upgrade, perhaps a better photo of the text on the side could lend a clue?
What is for sure, is that this isn’t the same camera as is mounted on the ingame Marksman, despite it being present on the Bovington vehicle; I guess the devs modeled it after some of the older photos.
Yes, that is another camera. There are at least 4 things that were mounted to the side of the radar. Which is which is hard to point tho.
Hopefully it will come to light at some point, perhaps a suggestion can be made for a researchable thermals mod for the Chieftain Marksman, not like it will be out of place at 8.3.
If it ever becomes clear what is what, then yes.
