not in the game yet? why
If anything, the J6K1 is already in the game, the Ki-93-I was only a mockup, and as for the J4M, maybe I will write about it someday
You mean this?
Yes, I made a mistake, I meant Ki-94-I. Additionally, I plan to write about the Ki-93b
Nice! I hope it will get aproved.
For now, these are only distant plans
Reviving this suggestion.
The twin-boom design fighter is always very nice to see outside of the drawing board, but this one isn’t the Ki-98 in the suggestion, but rather the Ki-94-I.
Tachikawa Ki-94 - Wikipedia
IHYLS has a great video on this together with the proposed Mitsubishi J4M, would be great to be foldered together with the J7W Shinden. While all the pics we have of this are just of the wooden mockup, reports tell that there were parts like the fuselage and control surfaces that have already been manufactured. Problem is just that since the Ho 221 engine was still a prototype by that point and nevermind sending such an advanced engine to a small company in Manchuria thus the engine was never fitted and it never flew.
This is different to the R2Y2 which arguably (and I disagree) that its simply a paper plane since it is an R2Y1 fuselage. This however is an entirely new and unique one so it cannot be called a paper airplane by WT’s standards.
All the mockup photos shown in the video are not the Ki-98. They are of the Ki-94-I.
Much needed CAS around Rank IV for Japan.
If the prototype was partially complete, that’s good enough for me! Don’t know about for Gaijin, though…
Would be a fine addition to my Japanese vehicle collection (is getting close to overtaking the UK in most vehicles obtained) +1
“Another 2 very cool japanse protos. The first (Mansyu Ki-98) which never was built but still a beautiful design, and the second (Tachikawa Ki-94-I) only 1 or 2 prototypes were built i believe.”
Ki-94-I only a wooden mock-up was created
Those 2 were the 2nd prototypes. Not the picture. But the text still confirms that 2 prototypes did exist, the mockup was likely based on the 2nd prototype, rather than the first.
All sources known to me (English, Japanese, and Polish) deny the existence of a Ki-94-I prototype. The Ki-94-II, which is already in the game, was in the prototype phase.
Considering it’s based on publicly available sources who knows.
Your source on the development of the Ki-94-I prototype is very weak, even nonexistent. The link you posted from WT Live contains only one source, which refers to the Ki-98, not the Ki-94-I. Furthermore, the WT Live source (militaryfactory) does not provide any sources, which drastically reduces its credibility.
For this role here is candidate what really existed and even flew and had powerful weapon for CAS than Ho-204
It’s a picture… also, someone else posted the same picture. It clearly did it exist, and while that is only of the wooden mockup it still proves that the aircraft went to a certain phase of development, so it did exist, we just do not know how far, and trying to find an actual picture on the world wide web would be extremely difficult if you consider how much people upload to different sites. That either shut down, or don’t.
