Man-in-the-Loop: Guidance Mode for Munitions with TV and IR Seekers

Saying this as if namer wrecks its br bracket and further upgrade will make 11.3 unplayable

Manual control is not possible, this is one of the things the blog have said, instead it is guided by an autopilot with a cursor

You cannot guide them without LOS

Heli launched SPIKE ER will be MITL capable? or am i tweaking?

Would be a really interesting decision if the already miles better LMURs got that feature and spikes didnt, provided they both have these capabilities irl (which i know nothing about)?

yea looking at it i still think its gbu39 lol, it looks like it doesnt have camera and is just a metal dome, housing all the electronics and GNSS stuff

I’m sorry, but that’s not quite how it works. In simulation mode, you can’t track the ballistic trajectory of a weapon. A TV camera is different from a pod camera. Some vehicles don’t need a targeting pod to launch TV-guided missiles.

So, no. My question makes more sense than your answer.

RiP tanks in general

But given that LMURs have Gnss guidance you could launch them from behind cover towards ground spawn or wherever, then pop up later and designate a target and dip again?

Yes, but LMUR lofts, which means it can be guided without exposing the helicopter to danger for almost the entire time it is in the air.

And if they allow the player to lock and then track targets automatically while mid flight, that means you can fire another one while the old one guides itself in FnF mode. That’s my main concern.

As long as you keep LOS with the missile, that should work

its their quote, not mine. Namer suffers

A camera with a simple monochrome filter and a camera with a IR monochrome filter are not that different, the only difference is the location of the camera

You think I don’t know the difference between AGM-65B and KH-59M?

Judging from the blog, yes, but does it mean you have to keep los to the missile all the time (not that hard to do due to the insane lofting of the lmurs anyhow) or does it mean you obviously need los to the missile and the new target at the moment you are redirecting/designating a target?

it will probably be like the SACLOS ATGMs that can loose and regain the guidance channel if they pass behind obstructions.

It would be weird if you needed LOS to the target as well, you are using the missiles PoV to choose a new target

It’s over for a tank main like me

Oh, true i misread that or imagined things when i read the blog the first time. But after rereading it sounds a bit like you need to keep los to the missile to use the MITL. Once LOS is broken the missile should just go for the last designated target/GNSS location/IOG and MITL can not be reestablished even if you regain LOS to the missile or whatever?

Well at this point thats maybe a bit too much speculation i think just waiting till ppl try it on dev server will clarify better how it really works…

The thing is, the Namer isn’t the only ground vehicle with FnF ATGMs that feature MITL, there’s the Lynx, the Boxers and the Freccias as well

The Akeron also has MITL on top of that

While those missiles aren’t guaranteed kills, they shouldn’t get MITL

The Namer should get a BR reduction and/or a survivability buff tho

Did we need another buff for LMUR? Really?
