After giving it some more thought, I came up with another solution that would keep it competitive against the more superior airframes it regularly faces, while also making the stock grind less frustrating for myself and other players.
Remember to like and share the post because it’ll help bring more attention to these Phantoms which aren’t in the best place right now.
there stock grind is absolutely diabolical and rage enducing
First batch of changes. Vehicles not listed not to be changed.
15.0: AESA Typhoons, Su-30SM2.
14.7: F-15C GE, Su-30MKM, Su-30SM. JAS39E?
14.3: F-15E/I.
14.0: F-15C/JM/BazM, Su-27SM, J-11B.
13.7: Su-30MK2, Su-30MKK.
13.3: F-15A/J/Baz, Su-33, Su-27, J11, F-14B/D.
13.0: F-18C Early.
12.7: F-18A.
Mig-21 Bison?
These changes would potentially entirely alleviate 12.0. Where the only 13.0s left are good SAHR carriers, and sub-par [for one reason or another] AMRAAM carriers.
As implied in the first sentence, this would just be a first batch.
After this I’d like to see what happens to see if it needs to go further.
not to mention the F-4S swapped out the smoke-less engines for more powerful ones, so while the AE slats do increase drag, it also got a engine power increase
i think a late F-4B would be better as it wouldn’t be a copy paste of F-4J but worse, it would act as a side grade of the F-4C but it would retain the IRST under the nose as well as the navy AIM-9D/Gs, AIM-7E/E-2s
I shared it in a server with some other forum users on it.
gun pod add a lot of drag tho which is why internal cannons the goat so your faster and lighter and the F4J/S has carrier reinforcements
what on earth why are these 13.3 with the SU33/SU27 which is just infinitely better
8/6 R27ER vs 4 aim-7M is not fair in the slightest the actual closer equivlent would be a F15C early with 4-120A and 4 9M and no HMD
as the ER can compete with early fox-3s
or give sparrows MH mode
if where doing this balanced wise it should be like this
15.0: AESA Typhoons, Su-30SM2.
14.7: F-15C GE, Su-30MKM, Su-30SM. JAS39E?
14.3: F-15E/I.
14.0: F-15C/JM/BazM, Su-27SM, J-11B.
13.7: Su-30MK2, Su-30MKK.
13.3: , Su-33, Su-27, J11, F-14B/D.
13.0: F-18C Early F-15A/J/Baz
12.7: F-18A.
the only change would give c early 9M
honestly some matches i don’t even bring the gunpod, while yes it induces a lot of drag, its still a lot lighter than the one on the C and E phantoms
except the point is the E doesnt need to so its faster giving its missiles more speed to reach farther launching first which is why EJ KAI should not be 12.0 with F4J and F4S they should simply decompress the BR range
i hardly even launch at the missiles full range, unless i’m using the D or Cs which need to take time to get speed to turn, outside of that i typically fire about 1/5th less than the missile lock range, unless i’m flying something the a really good radar like a F-15A or something
Can you not call them that
It is FGR and FG1 or F-4M and F-4K
Not this Frankenstein of a name
and it is a major diffrence between F-4J(UK)/K/M and F-4J/S.
I reckon those ‘buffs’ you claimed aren’t enough to make AIM-7E-2 or Skyflash an equal counterpart of AIM-7F/M. Ideal range is shorter, and they accelerate more slowly.
In War Thunder, AIM-7F is straight better than Skyflash.
And thanks to the compressed BR radius of 12.0~14.7,
That difference is bigger than you think, especially when you are forced to fight against superior jets armed with AIM-7F/M/P or those cursed R-27ER.
Of course, we can call the F-4K/M the best dogfighting Phantom if we just ignore the good parts of Agile Eagle and only elaborate on the bad parts of it. If you want.
But, in the current Air RB meta, it isn’t worth enough; those superior 4th-gen jets such as F-16A will clap you out like “Nah, I’d win”
Phantoms suffer more than last year, and you are playing the same tune which you played last year.
“F-4K/M(F-4FGs if we bring your silly designation) is the best 12.0 phantom.”
Nobody said decompression is weak, so don’t make things up just to argue against a point nobody made.
The people pushing for changes including me want to see the aircraft we actually enjoy flying, especially the British Phantoms, brought up to a reasonable standard. At the same time, I’ve suggested simple changes to other Phantoms as well to avoid any bias.
So when you claim you’re “on our side,” your actions say otherwise. All you’ve done is make it harder for the people trying to get the worst Phantom variants in the game addressed.
You’re approaching this from the perspective of, “How can I win this argument?” instead of asking, “How do we actually fix BR compression?” If you’d put the same amount of effort into proposing a detailed decompression plan as you’ve spent arguing against everyone else, you might have convinced people. Instead, you’ve offered nothing constructive and continue to downplay just how poor these aircraft actually are.
I literally want decompression to happen but gaijin takes ages to do it. Making Phantoms Great Again - #148 by HazelPam7769
If you hate the compression, make a discussion post about it and your plan. I had to post this reply again because the original one violated community guidelines.
You’re making the same mistake as Gaijin. You need to raise the top BR to at least 15.3 because the issue doesn’t just affect top-tier, it impacts everything below 12.0 as well.
facts
I’ve updated the suggestion to include several quality of life improvements by removing many of the outdated and unnecessary early AIM-9 missile modifications. As a result, the new stock loadout would consist of two AIM-9Ls and two Fox-1 missiles, making the stock grind much more enjoyable.
Oh, so what I’ve been calling them this entire time.
I literally agree with you.
I am unsure why people would be upset anyone would the FGR and FG1 Phantoms when talking to them in plural… FGs… literally the first two letters, with the 3rd alphanumeric being a 1 or an R.

No.
Because you didn’t.
and you mentioned as mixture of British/American designation
F-4FG.
it is F-4K Phantom FG.1, and F-4M Phantom FGR.2
You can call it in
-
full british designation
Phantom FG.1/Phantom FGR.2 -
or just shorten it.
FG.1/FGR.2. -
Or in American designation
F-4K/F-4M, F-4K/M. -
Or just call those British Phantom, because F-4K/M are a British-exclusive variant.
Well, some players might disagree because if you calls like that, you are unintentionally excluding F-4J(UK) Phantom F.3. -
Or you can call those Spey Phantom, because F-4K/M are equipped with Spey engines.
But not those cursed mixtures like F-4FGs.
