ye. Submarines are not for everyone. but i loved to play them durring the latest naval Sub event and durring the modern sub event a couple years ago. i will play a Submarine every day over BB’s.
It’d be nice of Gaijin realised Calibre doesn’t equate to accuracy… and also modelled all of the radars to the accuracy that was historical on British ships. Because the radars we do have are practically useless.
I both really want Subs and fear them.
They could be great fun and totally change the NRB meta.
They could also be stupidly OP or so bad they are unplayable. (lets face it, Gaijin would do one or the other and probably flip flop between the 2 for years)
I think NRB needs some ground up TLC first, before they are properly tried. But they are probably needed before they invest the time necessary to properly intergrate them. Navals low popularity rate really screws over the potential for these kinds of additions. Its a catch 22.
Id love proper naval radars on our ships. The most notable and valuable asset isnt even vaguely modeled. it sucks.
British 15 inch guns are some of the most accurate in world at the time. But in game all 15 inchers just get nerfed for balance. Though a major bug report is in the works I believe
unless you do what WoWs did which is increase the speeds artificially, or skip to post war Diesel Electric Boats which can put a half decent turn of speed on (I’m thinking Oberons, and the various assorted early Russian stuff which can all do in the region of 15-20kts), you’re stuffed, because the moment a destroyer finds you, you badically can’t run. irl, Destroyers would hunt subs down for literal hours, until they ran out of battery, scored a hit, or there was no further point in prosecuting an attack (i.e. your convoy that you’re escorting is outrunning the sub and no longer considers it a threat)
would be nice for stuff like the Darings (and Tiger for anyone who has it) to get proper radars. Not to mention the use of radar in locating Bismarck, and Scharnhorst.
As for the guns, i’d damn well hope so. It’s pathetic that the guns are “nerfed” for balancing reasons. What, does that mean I get to magically nerf the Goa on the Bravy because I said so?
I half get the nerf. Because its one way to balance out different calibres. But it sucks when whether or not you hit the target is total random chance and not any form of skill. Meanwhile the thing you are fighting (say a Scharnhorst) can hit you with every shell, every time.
But yeah, Tiger is fun but niche, but the lack of surface to surface radars is really annoying. Even if it was a bit gimmicky outside of EC
Again, how are they supposed to get close to battleships? Large maps, incredibly slow speeds, very fragile.
You only liked them in the special event because it was… a special event. It was nothing like a real naval match and people really need to stop bringing it up.
Nothing that made it fun will transfer over to normal naval battles. They could introduce their own mode the way helis have one.
I suppose it raises a different question though.
Does it matter if they are really hard?
Argument can be made that a light cruiser stands no chance in a uptier vs a wall of battleships. Its not going to deal any meaningful damage and will probably be 1 shotted.
It will require a bit of a fundamental overhaul of maps for any kind of intergration. But I think its possible.
One thing I’ve been kind of wondering: are there plans at all to make these fuel tank/bomb racks into functional fuel tanks that can be equipped both with and without bombs?
(and not just on the Kfirs, but all Mirages)
Might be a stupid question. But has it actually been bug reported?
Not a stupid question at all, and I don’t think they have.
Probably because way back when they were added on the Mirages/Kfirs, we not only didn’t have external tanks but also lacked EC maps (or at least ones at the current size of top tier Air RB)
Well. We’ve always had ASB.
But maybe get to work on a bug report for them. Youd be surprised by how often obvious stuff gets missed. Like I’ve just done a bug report for the fact that all Harriers should have smokeless engines. Not the sooty trail they all have in game
because i, atleast, played the shit out of Cold Waters and other stealth games overal. i see no fault in spending a good while sneaking up to a enemy ship to torp them when they are distracted.
or you can let Submariens have a different spawn than other ships. close to caps maybe.
one side gets their subs spawn closer to A and the other team gets their spawn closer to C. something like that,
I would, but I don’t have any access to documents needed for the fuel tanks
Ah damn. Maybe start a discussion thread for it. See if anyone else has the right documents. Its kinda how I got the docs for the Harrier
Was i the only guy who actually liked when they changed track and wheel repair times to 10 seconds flat, but also made them very easy to destroy. gave arty a use as it was it served as a disabling tool for you to flank the enemy, but it was only for a couple seconds.
Its why im looking forward to them adding all these modules (although i can see they still haven’t modelled the t80s autoloader…). If they reduce the repair time on average apart from the main features of the tank, eg, breach, barrel, engine, i think itll make them game alot better and wont give the people with level 150 aced crews such a massive advantage. shooting a barrel of a guy just for him to shoot you back 10 seconds later is never fun knowing it would have taken you 30 at minimum.
They wont be hard, fundamentally they’ll be unplayable. The low speed means that unless spawns change they literally cannot get close enough to use their torpedoes on most maps before the battle even ends. And that doesn’t even count torpedo travel time.
But if they do move spawns closer, the question is how much? And how will that negatively affect the rest of the mode? Right now the only way I can see them working without giving them artificial performance enhancers is to basically have them spawn in capture points, but that’s a little unfair, isn’t it?
Ideally maps are overhauled first, as you say, but I don’t know if Gaijin is willing to do that. I’d like them to, I don’t want subs excluded, but I just don’t see how they could work as of right now.
Yep… Its a catch 22.
Do you add Subs first and then fix the gamemode
or
do you fix the gamemode so that you can add subs
Can you actually do one before the other?
I want them in game. Id play them. But they are going to be a BIG addition, with a lot of changes necessary (though many of those changes probably wouldnt hurt anyone else)
