Major Update "Ninth Wave" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

In 16 hours? The boys are pulling overtime for this one

Hot take: I think Gaijin should just change the update schedule. 3 majors a year. January/June/October. Trying to do an update every ~3 months means you’re constantly being chased by deadlines and not enough time to deal with side quests like implementing bug fixes.

That’s just me though.

That gives the Devs less than a month to get an update out from December to January

My bet it’s the IRST pod for the super hornets that’s broken it. Those things haven’t worked throughout the entirety of the dev server.

October then?

It would be more reasonable for it to be October, if that’s what Gaijin decides to do

the thing is, sometimes its 2 updates in less than 2 months, just flips the “schedule” even more than it already does, id be happy even with just 1 very huge a year, and the rest of the year dedicated to fixes etc

Could we have an April fools skin of the time India tried to disguise it’s helicopters as elephants?

Nah, that would be a disaster; the game’s economy and playerbase retention heavily relies on a steady and consistent flux of regular content, changes and bug fixes.

3 updates a year means 4 months between each major update;

As of now, even the 3 month wait between updates can feel long and slow, and quite stalled in many ways… imagine adding an extra month to that!

Gaijin makes dozens of millions through War Thunder every year… it’s not like we are talking about ten indie devs; it’s a huge company with a huge developement team which could easily get even larger if needed, as 70% of their current earnings go into dividends, so… yeah.

Oh god no, it’s DCS all over again 🤣 1 update a year and people would get bored.

To clarify, I was referring to major updates, not the “smaller” ones that are less content heavy in comparison. Hence why I referenced the big 3 “seasonal” update months (or roughly that, anyway)

pull an old reliable and add 2 or 3 vehicles inbetween each updates as filler

Events and BP?

theres only really 2 big seasonal ones ever since around 2021, the June/July (sometimes August) and December update

Techtree, Events and BP are boring as is

Well yeah but they technically do add stuff outside of updates

Just not something worth going for 99.9% of the time

Update cancelled, game shut down, everyone charged a second time for their premium vehicles, economy in shambles
