Major Update "Ninth Wave" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

When? I thought they were still using aam4b?

F16 with IRIS-T missile for air and ground

No idea, but I wouldnt be surprised if the Gripen E gets Aim-120D. Not only for a buff in performance but SAAB has a habbit of making sure the Gripen is intergrated with as much as possible

No

ah yeah, forgot its just a marketing lie.

if it works with the c5 itll likely be fine to use the d

Yes, but not the Air 2 ground function, that’s done by Kongsberg

Ah still this is newer than anything i’ve seen. i didn’t realize the deals were finalized.

Fancy.

So, that will be bug reports for the US to get IRIS-T, Python-5 and ASRAAM on their aircraft then :D

especially when they are desperate for something better than 9X

I mean if it works for the gripen? why not u.s.? Also i found what they use 120d on, its norway’s f35s. which i forgot they had.

2 wrongs dont make a right

It didnt though, not all Gripens have R-Darter or AMRAAM. So clearly they are happy to have different laodouts for different nations

Tbf, it’s pick and choose with gaijin, why do you think the MICA still hasn’t been added to the Gripen C
JAS 39E:F MICA

I mean they got aim9m they never used in service and the 120c-5 they never used either on “technical compatibility” grounds. Even the eurofighters shouldnt have c-5. they should have went from aim120b ->120c8
edit:Actually idk about the british, they may have used c-5.
