Major Update "Ninth Wave" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

That does mean we’ll either have an astronomically short dev server, or the update will go live only in the second half of March

Wow so the new F16 is just copy paste DOA? Aim 120D, no gbu-53s, 120CM, worse engine, mid radar. Is the cockpit even different?

Not that we know, no

Edit: it gets an ASEA radar, but that’s all I know is different about it

The update going live in the second half of March was always a possibility.

We don’t know its final BR or the final performance of the AIM-120D, but if you wanna call it DOA already, who am I to stop you lol

I don’t mind that really. Means the gap to the next dovbleg season will be smaller

Lotsa folks having been screaming DoA already lol

It’s going to be a menace in GRB

Gonna be honest them holding the dev until Monday makes me feel everything is very much WIP and wasn’t fully ready to be unveiled. I can just hope they don’t rush some vehicles and then leave them broken for years on end.

DOA is a bit of a stretch. As far as i know the AIN-120D should be a lot better at not losing the tracking (if the planes radar still sees the target) and better energy retention. AESA radar is also a lot better than a mechanical one, especially for TWS usage as it updates the tracking more often for more accurate missile flight paths.

Six missiles ain’t gonna save it, if they went with public info the radar is probably one of the worst ESA radars in-game. It actually has worse HOBS performance than the AN/APG-68 and only slightly better range.

Muh six missiles

At least wait until we know how the AIM-120Ds perform

They could be amazing for BVR and you don’t need a ton of missiles to do BVR

Oh yeah I kinda forgot, this is gaijin we’re dealing with isn’t it…

You can somewhat guess the performance of both, the AIM-120D and the F-16 Block 52. They won’t buff the FM of the F-16 much or not at all while the AIM-120D shares its aerodynamic characteristics with the C-5 mostly. If they still go by “muh small control surfaces means bad maneuverability” then yes, the AIM-120D will just fly further but not turn any better. It’s funny how the missile gets every ability to do HOBS but has no maneuverability to act on it.

The consequence would be an F-16 with slightly increased performance (+AESA) and a missile which flies further.

it only has 6 missiles and its radar isnt good enough to hold tws lock while notching, so the gps guidance will be nearly useless in actual gameplay, even the gripen e has 3 more missiles than the f16 at the same br, alongside a better radar and flight performance

Does anyone know where Eitan is located? Is it above or below the two Namers?

the 75 G Missile the Pantsir gets has miniature Control surfaces too

a new f16 was the last thing the us needed as a new addition in my opinion, its not going to be any better than the f18e or f15cge even if it has 120ds
