Major Update "Line of Contact" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

this kind of is the better heli mode. if they eventually step it up to more modern vehicles like 64D or E, imagine APKWS + Hellfire/JAGM + 30mm proxy HE in infantry gamemode

“Kind of”, just like GRB “kind of” is a better mode for helis than heli PvE

the blog said its helis only for CAS, so a bit friendlier than GRB

I hope War Thunder, for a change, makes DMRs useful lmao.

All modern shooters have this obssession with making SMGs OP meta laser railguns and DMRs be mere oversized pistols.

The entire vehicle selection in the CBT is limited, I am pretty sure there will be planes later on.

Also, if its anything like arcade, you won’t get research points for your helis from that mode

with the map sizes from the trailer/blog, normal rifles and carbines are by far the best option if they have fairly realistic damage. DMR might be good for cleaning up rooftops but nothing an M16 cant do

true, but attack helicopters are pretty good for taking out infantry, id argue better than jets

Napalm and carpet bombing would like a word

can be defeated with pretty simple fortifications. modern fighters dont really carry napalm at all too

Fortifications that stop a multiple 1000lb bombs are also going to stop whatever armament helis currently have.

Bring a third gen jet then, if there either are no SPAA/SAM vehicles or just AI anti air you will be able to use less modern planes just as well as more modern ones

i think it will be restricted to fairly modern equipment. helis also have way more loitering time and lots of ammo to stay longer and do more damage

Ah, true!

If War Thunder implements REALISTIC gun penetration and damage, then we may, at last, be looking at a game where guns don’t need to land 7-9 shots to kill someone past 25m…

See, this can be quite promising.

War Thunder’s infantry can become the middle ground between simulation and arcade once more which many of us crave.

I don’t like simulators because they are too long and slow, and I don’t like modern “arcade shooters” because they have become WAY too sweaty and reflex-based.

The CBT apparently is restricted to AH-64As, baseline Abrams, M3A3s and whatever the Soviet equivalents are. It’s not going to be restricted to fourth gen jets if they enable regular aircraft (which they most likely will)

there still may be a role for DMR because of this, since at medium ranges body armor can be a problem for stuff like the M4/M16 and AK-74, and they did mention body armor in the blog

It’s going to be pretty much like Enlisted. If you don’t like the way Enlisted works, you probably won’t like WTs infantry gameplay either.

i think it will be. even the earliest stuff you mentioned is still in 4th gen era, they only picked that stuff for early balance concerns

My only issue with Enlisted is that the AI squad mates are not… very bright.

It is impossible to sneak around or conceal yourself when these dudes will just stand up out in the open behind and on top of your cover lol.

I don’t even totally oppose the concept of AI squads, as they make the game less sweaty, slower paced and makes the battlefield feel even bigger scale… but man, PLEASE improve the AIs so they have a minimum of even basic notions on common sense.

So no different to War Thunder then :P

You don’t actually expect the AI in WTs infantry mode to work better than that in Enlisted, do you?

The Soviet equipment is around the 3rd gen jet era. Enlisted also has multiple eras.

I don’t know why you would expect the infantry mode to be limited to a post cold war era.
