As Ive already said today, the report regarding the wing was forwarded this morning.
We are pinged near constantly in this topic (somtimes by the same person 5 times in 30 mins, so unfortunately we miss some things. We are not sitting in this topic and doing nothing else 24/7 unfortunately.
When they do enter service, they would surely just be called the same thing I.e “Typhoon FGR4” unless they are planning a new designation for them. Instead the more sensible naming route would be to call them by the upgrade package that includes them, as the Tranche/Block is mostly irrelevant and many older Typhoons are being upgraded.
The upgrade package to that end is the P4E (Phase 4 Enhancement) which specifically includes the AESA
ECRS Mk2 is a key part of a package of strategic upgrades to the Typhoon aircraft - known as the Phase 4 Enhancement (P4E) programme - which is set to ensure Typhoon’s new capabilities can be fully realised. - Source
Meanwhile Typhoon (AESA) entirely eliminate the FGR4 from the standard name which is just wierd.
