Major Update "Line of Contact" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

they could add it for the MAW capability without adding functional ECM at first, then implement the ECM features if/when they come to the game

They could, but they didn’t unfortunately

Any proofs? Photos at least?

Now it’s time for Irbis work properly, with it’s proper parameters and I can be satisfied xD

heavy fighters like the F-15 have far more payload than medium fighters like the Rafale. You can’t just put them in the same boat while setting the Gripen aside

You can do some fairly surface level research to find them, they are AESA-based radar MAWs like those found on the Praetorian DASS (Eurofighter)

Rafale is not a light fighter if that’s what you’re implying

Hi smin, any news on Python 4 for israel? Since theyre not getting a new jet and still dont have a 14.3 or tech tree aesa?

Adding Python 4 to the F16I and moving it too 14.3 would be ideal currently, and give them a slight edge in the IR missile ability but still behind in radar and AHR (which is currently more important)

Mr Smin, can you tell us if the Aussie Boxer is an event vehicle or not? Sorry if you did and I missed it.

Also, will the MB 326B come as a pack or GE vehicle if you know? And I assume we wont see any Impala versions for the UK yet?

If not, can we get a hope on giving Strikemaster some miniguns or 20mm gunpods? Would be nice for the UK to have something with a similar cannon armament and bomb/rocket loadout.

Would be a nice and easy stopgap, since the python is already in the files and pretty much final performance wise

It’s not, but it’s a not a heavy fighter either
What is it you don’t get?

The Rafale and Eurofighter are Multriole fighters, not heavy or light
The Gripen is fairly obviously a light multirole fighter

But they are actually lighter and smaller)))

Okay? I’m not arguing that they are heavy fighters am I

Multirole has nothing to do with heavy or light. There are heavy multiroles, medium multiroles, and light multiroles. And nowadays most jets are multirole anyway

Heavy & Light fighters are old doctrinal terms, Multirole is a modern doctrinal term, fairly straightforward.

I’d just class most eurocanards as ‘Fighter’
Gripen however is a ‘Light Fighter’
J-10 idk, leaning more towards ‘Fighter’
F-16 is clearly a ‘Light Fighter’
F-15 is clearly a ‘Heavy fighter’

Classifications are simply in line with whatever doctrine you subscribe to

For the last time. A fighter that isn’t refered to as “light” or “heavy” is a “medium weight fighter”. That’s all. There’s nothing beyond that. It’s just how you call it.
The role class describes what it can do. The size class describes its size. That’s strictly all.

Do they now? For air combat their loadouts arent much different from Rafale or Eurofighter and their combat range is similar, which is very important in air superiority. And again if we’re talking air to air role they are of the same class.

Spoiler

F-15 - 8-12 missiles (limited by FCS)

Su-30 - 14 missiles

Typhoon - 8-10 missiles

Rafale - 8 missiles (limited by FCS)
