Some of us just have a preference for modern warfare and hardware.
From a gameplay perspective, Top Tier is also in need of serious adjustments via bug fixes and new additions in order to address big balance issues.
Some nations were left behind, while others are above all others in terms of capabilities- we want this situation corrected, and, for that, apart from fixes that are artificially crippling certain vehicles, we also need counterpart additions for everyone to face the currently uncontestedly strongest vehicles.
probably because gaijin focus has clearly shifted to the late cold war / early modern era, and just like how people dont like modern day stuff people also dont like ww2 era stuff I for one dont really care for ww2 stuff, I find it a bit boring since most main tanks and planes of each major has been added and none of the porotypes will really add anything in my eyes
And hopefully once we get most modern day stuff like 5th gens Gaijin will start to go back and fill in gaps in the TT’s like bombers, armed trainers/LCAS, WW1 (please I beg I will give up my first born child for the Fokker DR1, Sopwith Camel, Bristol F.2B and the likes), and other stuff that are missing. There’s so much that can be added and hopefully since it looks like Gaijin is just rushing towards 5th gens they will go back and look at some additions lower than top tier.
I could understand not really liking WW2 things, and I am not aware of too many prototypes from WW2 that would add too much, but like 1960’s-1990’s is still missing tons of stuff, stuff that would be fun and unique, fill gaps that need to be desperately filled, and add new play styles.
Boring for some but interesting for others. Without another TT re-shuffle WW1 could either be added below current reserve tiers being something like Rank 0 BR 0.0 → 0.7 or in their own TT separate like the split between Bluewater and Coastal.
Modern stuff is cool, that is true. Modern stuff looks fun, until it’s added in abysmal states because the information on them is still classified, or a Gaijin classic, the information for a vehicle is “a marketing lie”. A problem I see with more modern things is the grind. I feel like top tier already lacks a decent amount of players, not only because of the poor state it is in, but also because the grind to get to top tier drives people away. If Gaijin could set aside their greed and inconsistencies, then I think modern things would be a great addition.
Yeah the grind is getting worse and worse. The grind is manageable through I’d say to rank 5 but from then on it starts to get absurd. I reckon when we do see 5th gens come they will be upwards of 500k RP and like 2 mil SL which will make it worse and worse. This is for aircraft the grind for tanks, helicopters and naval is much, much worse. Something does need to be done to make grinding them better. Not saying it needs to be easy but definitely needs to be easier than it is now.
High costs for RP and SL to hopefully push players towards purchasing premium time and vehicles, scummy business practices. I don’t want to see the addition of newer generation vehicles under the current game economy because only a fraction of the player base will ever actually reach those vehicles, and the addition of those vehicles removes from the content that could be added to more played areas. A fix in the economy (I.e. setting aside greed), and more consistent balancing/content additions, modern tech would be a grand addition. Just imagine the cost of a modern premium jet in this current economy.
Just like I want more WW2 stuff, primarily ground (with air being minor and basically not caring for naval)
Things like the western allied arty or missing lend-lease/variants. For example I was doing something with the M3 MT and realized WT lacks them with only having the base M3 and Grant I in game.
Anything above 5.7 I don’t find fun/not interested in. So the few times we get something TT there I love. As I find events/BPs far to hard too do, and often left with burnout.
funny enough complete opposite here, ww2 for naval is the only thing I really care about for ww2 now days and thats because we can still get a ton of cool ships, still missing QE, still missing any of the KGV, still missing a Revenge class in the british tree (still incredibly dumb we were told we aren’t allowed our own ship because the soviets got it)

Yeah same, the birth of modern warfare with the invention of tanks and air combat and it’s tactics which has evolved into what we see today is such an important part of history of which is noticeably missing War Thunder and it is disappointing. Would be great to see it added further than just a handful of tanks and a bomber at some point, and not in only Aces of Thunder as just 4 fighters and a map.
Speaking of Aces of Thunder it seems to have gone into a coma since the last announcing it wasn’t going to be VR exclusive back in April, and from the bombshell that was the early access gameplay seen from various content creators + the deafening silence from the devs it’s looking more and more disappointing.
