Helicopters have not been OP in over half a decade, this is also not a change to helicopters.
This change is correcting the seekers of IR AGMs, which makes the IR AGMs less OP.
But you’d rather keep your Kh-38MT staying OP…
SLAMRAAM, Spyder, FlaRakRad, ITO-90M, etc all deal with helicopters the same as Pantsir. Nice job implying NATO is Russia…
@Cpt_Naoshi_Kanno
CAS isn’t being buffed, helicopters are not changing at all.
IR AGMs as a whole are being corrected to no longer be immune to IRCM.
Can the new ARH SAMs even lock onto helis?
Nope, I’m saying that 7.7 doesn’t even cut it. It should be more like 9.0; naval suffers from severe over-compression to a ridiculously broken degree. The tech tree ceiling s/b 9.7 and Gneisenau, Iowa, and Yamato s/b near the top of that. Unless you enjoy fighting a Kronshtadt with an Omaha class cruiser.
Yes, ARHs were locking onto helicopters in our testing, though we did only test against Ka-52 one time with that.
Ground radars are also stronger than air radars in this role which I sadly can’t test at this time.
My priority was pushing GE into AH-60 for Israel to get the tests with SPIKEs rather than pushing GE into a SPAA platform for testing.
Have you tested the effectiveness of Comanche radar and IR stealth vs. other helicopters?
the answer is no they cant and if for some reason they do the missiles just go ballistic after some seconds.
Hmmm… I will still maintain reservations with regard to ARH SAM vs Helis for the time being then, given that if they actually modeled Rotor blades having a PD signature like they should, it would be in the patch notes.
I am also interested in whether or not the new Gen 5 IR SAMs (IRIS-T and Aim-9X) do anything vs DIRCM equipped helis.
That is what I guessed would be the case.
Looks like the hardest counter for the new SAMs is just to fly a heli :D
yea literally the best counter for all the most advanced SAMs in the world in game are just helis with and incredible strong DIRCM and LDIRCM. well it seems that all of us next update and 8v8 SQB season should be flying MI-28NMs to shxt on the face of these new SAMs. Spawn 3 MI-28NM and 1 Z-10ME and the match its done in just minutes.
If I am reading the gamefiles right, the L370-5L has full 360° coverage azimuth and ±75° in elevation, so it has a pretty small blindspot. Do you have any video of the AGM-65D ignoring it? There should be no exception for it as far as I can see.
LDIRCM only, which is only on 2 helicopters. But it’s a start. At this moment it doens’t necessarily help combatting the problem with IR AGMs at all though, they will still be strong against ground vehicles, which is the entire problem. For the anti heli role, they were okay, with Kh-38MT being most effective (but no non-Russian helicopter has LDIRCM). It also makes the new IIR SAMs less (to in-)effective in particular against these 2 helicopters, not sure how that is for balance.
Yeah… So Teapache probably wont be worth touching still then
I think this is the single time where SAL Brimstone is the best. Just need 2s for the Prox fuse
AH-64E is UK’s last hope. Do they even have the DIRCM for it though?
I dont know.
Maybe?
But yeah. Helis are basically dead for us. What we need is MMW LOAL Brimstones for the Tornado and Typhoon .Those should counter these new SAMs just fine :P
Perhaps throw in a few ALARM
Spoiler
These fits would serve us well
No one in my group owns Comanche, so not a possible test.
@Morvran @x-GeeNo_MS-x @CalvinAz
There is a deadzone.
Edit: Video of another deadzone shot.
AH-1Z has/had one tested. AH-64D had one tested (ran into some weight problems), and AH-64E has a really new one tested or in service, not sure how far along it is off the top of my head.
But only mighty USSR gets them
