Major Update "Leviathans" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

missiles are part of the vehicle balance

and as it stands, the early F-2 was only able to guide Fox-1s or the AAM-4 in a Fox-1 mode

It also lofts right before impact

So, no, it has the J/APG-2, which can guide them, which while it should be the initial test which didn’t get them irl. The plane also has the J/AAQ-2 and JDAMs, which are only found on airframes with upgraded OFPs. And since it has both the J/APG-2 and the upgraded OFP, AAM-4s are fully functional on it.

The poll where i referenced is for whether we want it to lose the J/APG-2/Jdams or gain AAM-4s

So it gets shot down by the multiple CIWS, great

Some would

losing the JDAMS is more realistic because gaijin will not give it the AAM-4

From what I know just on naval ships.

Even if a couple got through, there is nothing they could meaningfully destroy in a lofting attack barring a direct hit on CIWS or the armored launchers for the missiles

Even then there are multiple so it could still defend/fire back

That was when the dev dropped, plus the M41D got like 20mm less 0deg pen at point blank as well(its an export grade XM885)

realistically losing the JDAMs is probably the best call and hopefully they actually let ASM-2 be realistic and usable against ground targets

Yes… the traditionally meaningless superstructure of an Iowa class battleship… Nothing up there at all.

that nerf affects every APFSDS

I haven’t been able to play a world war event, so do you have to have the vehicles to use them?

Isn’t there a really heavily armored bit?

And I think chances of Granit hitting the radars is very low

Ehh… it would depend, you’d have 2 CIWS on each side anyway, and engagement range for them is pretty short all things considered, the ship would see them coming from something like 20km away (horizon from 30m up, idk how high the radar mast on the 1980 Iowa was), so there would be time to prime the CIWS, but even then they’d have at most 4 seconds of time to shoot down the target before impact (the phalanx fires automatically at less than 2km).

If it had some RIM-116 it would stand a much better chance.

And that missile weighs 7 tons, the kinetic energy of the missile probably does more damage than the warhead itself.

No, you get a Line-up from gaijin with a basic vehicle of each class. You do not need to have a single vehicle from that specific tech tree.

I don’t think it’s kinetic energy will do much to Iowas hull or turret armor. It’s not made to punch through armor like an AP shell which is what Iowa was made to take

There’s a lot of cabling in those structures, they’re not hard to spot if you’ve ever been on one. A large explosive from a heavy anti-ship missile wouldn’t have a hard time disabling Iowas radar I think. Iirc the US or Royal navies did a study post-war and concluded that Mizzou wouldn’t have taken much damage from the single Termit the Iraqis fired at her, but how much would 2 or 3 or 5 missiles do? Probably wouldn’t breach the citadel (from the sides at least) but the superstructure can be fairly easily written off, meaning her ability to return fire is reduced to the gun turrets’ manual control.

So is the model of the F 35 just in name rn or is there a viewable 3D model, as always I appreciate your work.

Even then, it would be like 3 406mm shells crashing into the ship, plus you know, a 1 ton warhead as well.
