Nope, C-3 was the first, the official C series started with the production Aim-120C-2, which was basically a Aim-120B with an improved seeker.
Next was the Aim-120C-3, which was the C-2 with the Clipped Fins.
After that was the Aim-120C-4 which had an improved warhead on the Aim-120C-3 iirc.
Next was the Aim-120C-5 with the improved motor (and seeker I think, I dunno).
There was also the C-6 which had some minor upgrade, like warhead or seeker.
Then was the Aim-120C-7 which I think had an improved motor and seeker (might be wrong), and the Aim-120C-8 which is an export downgraded Aim-120D-?.
They are from USN stocks though, remember they were used on F-14’s

Am just saying, as a whole, across land, sea and air, Japan has been given extremely hyped, heavily demanded top tiers in all 3.
It’s arguably the biggest overall winner of the update.

The C-36 may not be good in the bomb department but it’s armament will be nice
- 1× 20 mm cannon and 2× 7.5 mm machine guns fixed forward firing
