Major Update "Leviathans" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

So is Litening III. Could the A-10C get Litening III?

What Im saying is, if it could get Litening III. Then maybe it doesnt because of balancing? Also we should assume that for something like Tpods. GRB is what matters not ARB and so the Su-25SM3 is 12.7 and the A-10C is 12.0

Yeah I can see how a really modern one like Sniper could be useful in sim or even GRB for CAP on the F-15C, target ID would be really clear right?

Tbh doesnt really mean to much for most things, mostly because the firing range for 9M is alot lower than the lock range

Its an annoying fiddly bugger in SB. But yes it could be used for that

I don’t think it’ll get the litening 3 because the US never used litening 3

Eh… It is and it isnt. At least Ive had plenty of times where the target was within the LSZ and it wouldnt let me fire because I didnt have tone. Let alone just in range.

Ah… Did not know that. I assumed they did

In which case. Still a coin toss whether they decide something like the A-10C needs sniper.

Like Gr7 with only the Gen 1 TIALD could really really benefit from gettings its Sniper. But Im doubting it would, but instead be saved for the Gr9

The US does not use Litening III. And for A-10C it matters more because Sniper Pod removes the BS excuse for making the 6xMav an “illegal loadout” because there is no restriction on the Lau-88 loading with it.

I heard some TGP can laser more that one thing at a time, do you know anything about that?

Okay, Gen 3 tpod… flip a coin whether its worth it or not. The loadout restrictions. Yeah, now that is a more meaningful reason to add it

Sniper pod also prolly more durable than lightning 2 so doesnt melt when the rightmost mav on the triple rack geta fired

It also looks pretty cool imo

I’ve seen it mentioned more than a few times. I have no idea how it works nor if anyone has good enough sources for it to be reported (or if Gaijin would ever model it)

It was hoped that it could give the Typhoon some form of limited multi-target engagement if it could paint 2 targets at once, But how you would dictate a brimstone going to each would be messy

Koreans and their General Electrics, amiright???

You aren’t thinking big enough my friend, the same functionality as the IRSTs serve should apply to these TGPs.

And should definitely be the case for the F-2s FLIR pod to my understanding.

The restriction was never for “melting”, only for clearance. The “melting” was addition wear and tear on the flap surfaces from launch.

Is Sniper eyesafe?

To be honest by the time you lock you are close enough for guns if you’re anywhere close to mach and if not, many helis have MAWS that will shut off the seeker or DIRCM that will just kill lock anyway

Funnily enough, DIRCM is kinda my cheat to find a heli hiding near trees since I’ll get the notification when I hover over them

Though in fairness. Not even PIRATE can be used to guide AMRAAMs yet nor will the TGP within it automatically track the locked target like it should. Reports are in for both.

So an external A2G Tpod getting that might be a while yet

Well said TGP does have a laser rangefinder right?
