Major Update "Leviathans" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

We already have jets without guns so that’s no deal breaker

The best thing about this update is after 2 years 7 months my CAS tactics are FINALLY obsolete.

Gonna be real interesting to see how CAS adapts to this new AA landscape.

(I get the feeling they won’t - they’ll just keep asking for more broken missiles until we get the same standoff slop meta we just escaped lol)

Yeah, even flying low won’t save you if the radar picks you up.

There’s a small overlap it seems

None of the Navy Phantoms have [internal] guns, and the Sea Vixen has no guns at all. As long as it has missiles its a dogfighter.

Can we get more information about the bol of Finnish F18mlu2 and other countries’ F18 bol?

the new spaas are still within expectation, the none escape zone is around 10km, so time changed back to when you need to stay away, fire and escape in maybe 15km away.
just be more careful about the non warning IR missile like SLM, it may catch up secretly.

and since it’s a VLS, you can park the launcher behind a building

Yes there is, but X is commonly associated with I, as it is the only one covering I, and Ku is with J, as it covers most of it.

No. When you do that, the missile goes for a very long vertical climb, and does a giant arc, making that tactic less than ideal.

the missiles always do this no matter if you are behind buildings, the climb part is a fixed program.
the problems, if the building too high, it will block the missile, too low, it can’t hide you

Keep in mind though, the F-5 is a dogfighter. You only get 2x missiles and possibly nothing else, which doesn’t entirely seem fun. I could see Gaijin fudging guns onto it, seeing as they’ve done the same with a lot of other planes lol.

I know, but if you put it behind a building that hides it completely, the missile seems to go dumb and just climbs, after a while it start a giant arc in vertical, levels itself out ot target and starts tracking normally.

you mean if not behind a tall building it won’t do climbing? I remember it’s a fixed program for SLM, it always go a super high loft.

No. If it is behind a tall building, it does not behave in a way you would expect it. It will do a vertical climb no matter where the target is, then it will do a giant arc in vertical, and only after that it will start behaving like it does when launcher is not obstructed.

I‘m starting confused.
as I know it always go a super high loft, and the program is fixed, won’t change no matter you are.

like you said
but you also said this

I dunno, that’s basically how you fly the Lightning. I don’t see the reason behind adding it if they’re just going to give it guns anyway. Might as well just add another F-5E or whatever instead.

Still too many unknowns to definitively call the Spyder better than the SLM.

When a launcher is hidden behind a building, the missile does not behave as it should.

The missile going to the left is behind the building
