I just read through like 50 messages of people self-reporting lmao. Complaining about Phoenixes in the big 2025… really guys? It’s the easiest radar missile to decoy for it’s BR and if you’re trying to multipath it, you deserve to die.
(Remember it’s a missile designed to dismantle big soviet bombers and make a big blast area to hit sea-skimming cruise missiles, if you don’t want to get intercepted like a cruise missile, stop flying like one…)
Oh and the mental gymnastics to try to say the F-14B isn’t one of the worst 13.0s is amazing. The only planes that are worse than the F-14B at 13.0 are the harriers. And even those have a completely different playstyle that’s more consistent and rewarding compared to the F-14 playstyle. And saying “The Viggen DI is equal to the F-14B” is not only dishonest, but it also doesn’t even help your argument, because the Viggen DI is a bad plane carried by AMRAAMS and isn’t good without them in the slightest.

The F-14B isn’t a bad plane. Nor would I say it is the worst. But the amount of dishonesty about the 9L being fine in 13.0 is insane.

we will have to see if this is still the case in 7 hours. Harriers got buffed pretty hard to almost be comparable to their real counterparts. I imagine a lore accurate harrier using blue vixen well is a bigger threat than the tomcat with farkours and phoenix. I still don’t think the FA2 is 13.0 worthy though. The thing can see eurofighters which is just insanity

I wish they put AIR-2 warhead in AIM-54. Maybe it’d be 13.0 worthy without 9M then

The tomcats biggest enemy is the compression tbh. If its with its historical peers it will dominate but rightfully putting it higher means its going to eat spaamraams from platforms which are beyond anything Grumman could have dreamed of when developing the F14. better missiles don’t help that

Where the tomcat ate which pushed it higher into the 13.0 range was the fact of it being everyone’s entry into experienceing ARH missiles. It was essentially seal clubbing top that on with it being the first ARH in game and gaijin still somewhat experimenting with ARH missiles it built up an incredible K/D. It maintained that K/D via what I said with it being everyone’s introduction to ARH missiles. The more people learn about the threat and how to defeat it. The less effect it had.
Still doesn’t downplay the airframes capability. But at 13.0 with all the spaamrams, having one of the larger radarcross sections, and having an 9L. It has pains.
The difference is that the F-14B is effectively missing half of its power. There’s a reason Grumman calls it the F-14/Aim-54 Weapon System. They’re a team. They were built off each other. With the Aim-54 being trash, its historical peers outperform it, so naturally, its future foes vastly outperform it.
I was spading the Harrier FA2 during the free tomcat event incident so I still hate seeing those planes because they made fun flying virtually impossible. They kinda needed to be put up so high that they weren’t meta anymore for the sake of the game, it was just too much for months

That came down to the F-90. Which was being placed at the same tier as the F-14A.
So the problem wasn’t the Tomcats, but people not knowing how to counter it after 3 years? That seems about right.
Ehh part of it. The tomcat IRAF was under tiered off the bat. Gaijin saw 14A and was linke put same br as 14A.
even before people got their mitts on the farkour it was a big issue as half of both teams were tomcats. I had multiple games where I was the only non F14 player

At the start, the Fakour wasn’t a good missile and the Sedjiil was even worse. It was truly a sidegrade at its introduction. I think you mean after the Fakour was buffed to 20G.
That 20G buff came early in the F90s life.

For about 2 months that was all that was happening. the sheer volume of aim 54s meant that multipathing didn’t keep you safe as there was another 4 missiles screaming down at you at any one time.
