Personally, I don’t want such an iconic vehicle to be an event vehicle, as it would mean new players can hardly get it if they miss the event.

The more likely scenario is the same model and flight control system with only minor differences. They’ll give you one for the tech tree, one as an event vehicle, and one as a premium aircraft.
