No someone showed me a video of a MICA pulling a 180 and I responded by pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of both missiles.
While also pointing historically at what the “best” jets in ARB have been.
The point is that amram is good at long range, mica good as short, and yeah using an amram to force someone to go defensive is still useful even if it doesn’t hit.

Strength of AIM-120: reaching theorical but impractical ranges.
Weakness of AIM-120: being mid at actual gameplay ranges.
Strength of MICA: excelling at actual gameplay ranges.
Weakness of MICA: not reaching impractical ranges.

You can use a MICA to force someone defensive, it doesn’t actually tell you what missile is locked on you so that effect is the same regardless of if it can hit or not
It is and in Air RB that is great for forcing players off their attacks. But being real speculative shots with equal pilots those 120s are never hitting.
Then within the 15-10km the 120 PK drops whereas MICAs increases.

Also it should be noted that while MICA is underperforming, so is AMRAAM: Community Bug Reporting System
So if they fix one they should also fix the other.

I can get the difficulty of balancing Fox-3s.
They were definitely a Pandora’s box.
Imagine when we begin getting more capable ones, or even the current ones fixed.
There will be a point where every point-and-click will be a guaranteed kill, pretty much. Some people argue it’s already the case… imagine later down the line.
That’s why I don’t want to have a strong position about it either. On the one hand, I would find it reasonable for us to move on into better missiles, but I wonder- would that really be good for the game’s health and enjoyment?
So I think I will just step aside and trust that Gaijin and those who know best about Air-related matters will achieve the best balance.
I was going to type a long detailed response to this. But it’s evident there’s a gross misunderstanding not just of the munitions in question, but the mode itself, how it’s played, what constitutes a meta/non-meta weapon, and the platforms that these weapons are based on overall.
the MICA-EM is good, the AIM-120A/B is good. They’re both good at very different things, and ultimately the platform they’re mounted on is what decides which is meta currently and why.

Eh… Typhoon isn’t that much faster than the Rafale and with the upcoming Rafale buffs, its only getting smaller.
Whilst Aim-120 can be fired at greater ranges and still potentially get a kill. Reality is that those shots should be trivial to defend against for most players/aircraft. Especially the Rafale.
Given that most fights that occur within ARB or GRB are at ranges that are more than acceptable for the MICA to be used at, I dont think the max effective range is actually as impactful as some make out. The sheer performance of the MICA in WVR to short/medium BVR is extremely good and are imo, some of the hardest missiles to defeat.
When combined with the aircraft as a complete weapon system. The rafale can ripple off Multiple MICAs long before the Typhoon has even located the Rafale on radar.

We got to pretty close ones. It wouldnt be hard, since discord has fixed font and sizes, technically I can just experiment the guesses, take a screenshot and overlay with the original leak, to determine if the length fits. Plus, we do have some vague ideas like J-10B.
