Major Update "Hornet Sting" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

he reversed his turn in the video flying right infront of the rafale giving him a easy shot

To be fair, sometimes even an “internet rando” can figure things in hindsight that a pilot may not have been able to realise in the heat of a moment.

A pilot has to make decisions in split seconds; an “internet rando” can analyse carefully in hindsight and without any constraints.

Breaking: Guy who thinks singular airplane is god believes my saying I find another’s opinion worthless means I’ll think highly of his.

I will kindly ask you to also stop replying to me.

i never meant pilot is bad all im saying is he made mistake mid dogfight that cost him

I don’t care what you think of my opinion. I also don’t know why you’re being aggressive. But if you wish to stop being replied to ok.

Just so you know, the claim that 6 Rafales were shot down were made by the same side that said the F-22 never lost in the dogfight against the Rafale, and also claimed that the F-22 had fuel tanks on (video showed it did not). So take that claim with a grain of salt.

No it shouldn’t, There is not a single document or report to suggest an F/A-18C can beat a Typhoon in BFM. Is the Hornet great sure, but it is not superior to the Viper in BFM and the Typhoon outclasses the Viper.

Not to mention you’re not sitting there pulling g, which is VERY physically intensive.

i know the reports do seem dramatized but theres loike 42 articles claiming this so idk

An F-4F ICE “killed” 5 Rafales in a 2008 exercise therefore F-4F ICE greatest fighter ever REAL.

I was just sharing my option on how I would beat it in the hornet.

Of course! What I mean is, for example:

I am no tanker, and I wouldn’t say that I know better than a real tanker.

But I may detect, safely from behind my screen, a mistake a tanker may have committed in combat- a mistake that he may have committed because of being in an incredibly stressful situation where a split second decission may change everything.

That doesn’t mean I believe myself to know better or the tanker to be “incompetent”; it’s just that real life and real-time decission making is harder than retrospective hindsight from safety.

to be fair, that was the maiden exercise for the rafale and almost everything went wrong for them.

Ignore those articles. There’s two US pilots that evaluated the footage. One is a former US F-16 pilot, the other is a former US F-18 pilot. They went over the whole situation and the footage. They debunked the US claim that the F-22 never lost against the Rafale (it did), and then they also debunked the US claim that the F-22 had on fuel tanks (it didn’t). You don’t have to take my word for it, you can watch their video here:

I find it funny that no one here has mentioned yet that the F-2 gets countermeasures that dispense only to one side, similar to the Kfir.

Feast your eyes on this horrific asymmetrical dispenser:

(Still a great plane with amazing FM, Radar, and great weaponry, just a funny little quirk to mention before everyone thinks it’ll be OP with no drawbacks)

great way to visulize g force is a roller coster a average roller coaster experinces 1-2 g force a pilot can experince 7 times that

I was more thinking the other way round; Japan wouldn’t have a choice in the matter

why are we still talking about this

Oh yeah I know lmao. Just thought it was still funny.

Yeah it did lose but that was also one fight. So like every exercise it has to be taken with a grain of salt.
