That is definitely a hot take since Japan has a lot of prop planes that are actually unique and fun to use, same as their unique variants of WW2 and modern vehicles. Sweden is also another one that should have been in the game due to the varieties.

X branch (like Aviation or Ground or whatever) just shouldn’t be added of Y nation when there is not enough without copypasting. Having some nation be purely (e.g.) Aviation really wouldn’t kill the game
Because surprise surprise, subtrees are made of nations that tend to buy from other countries since they either have very low or no home grown products to use.

That is still not a good way to do it, again, Japan offers a good variety of different WW2 and modern vehicles, the issue has always stemmed from the inability to make line ups in Ground battles. So I do not agree with your take in any capacity at all.
