Brimstone with the SAL seeker wasn’t a consortium integrated project for Typhoon. Only the longer range Brimstone 2 and 3 are
Adding the SAL seeker to Brimstone was a UOR development for RAF Tornado in the same manner APKWS-II is now being integrated by Qinetiq, BAE and the RAF for UK Typhoon outside of the Eurofighter consortium’s Phased Enhancement initiative, to meet pressing needs for British military operations.
Its development led to the commercial Brimstone 2, but the missile itself was an interim capability, not export-developed or shared with partner nations, and relied on refitting missile from RAF stocks of MMW-only Brimstones to add the new seeker.
If it’s to be treated under the same criteria as HOSBO, Brimstone SAL would be removed from German and Italian Typhoons and German Tornado IDS SLE, or replaced by a missile that operates like Brimstone 2’s SAL mode. And the ongoing internal APKWS-II suggestion for Typhoon needs to be re-specified to only consider adding it to the UK Typhoons until the consortium makes a decision on adding it to Eurofighter’s outline for Phase 4 or Phase 5 Enhancement.
Wanna guess what they brought to DSEI? Amazingly when the CR2 LEP program got renamed to CR3 they also retroactively renamed the Demonstrator, this isn’t a wild concept.
The Challenger 3 demonstrator is a different version of the vehicle.
The vehicle named “Challenger 3 Advanced Technology Demonstrator” has an additional hull armour plate and a mockup trophy APS. The image below is from DSEI 2021, which the text you sent was referring to.
If the vehicle was in that configuration ingame calling it the Challenger 3TD would be fine, but the config we have ingame was only referred to as 2 LEP or 2 ATD.
Here is the version we have ingame
This has a standard CR2 hull and no trophy system.
It clearly says “Challenger 2 Advanced Technology Demonstrator”
Therefore, Challenger 2 ATD is the correct designation for what we have ingame.
hey @Smin1080p_WT is the sqaudron m1a1 AIM model for the british tree complete? or still wip because its missing the idk what you call them like fender things over the tracks and it makes it looks kind of ugly in my personal opinion, the rest of the model and the camo looks awesome but the thing missing above the tracks are interesting to say the least
Tbf not the worst update for france this year but also not the worst nation this patch so it’s definitely a win over what last updates boat only? That or it was the update before they only got a boat
