I would’ve bought it if it had 7P, 9M, AIM-54C+, and confirmation of working IRST/TCS
I’m sure people will buy it but definitely not as many as something like the hornet or F-4S
They were never really meant to outright sink those kinds of ships, historical factors and all that.
Still, ships w/ self-guiding missiles might have their niche fighting things smaller than dreadnoughts, and each other. Though we might not see them player-usable yet.
and everyone would’ve bought it if it also got AIM-120A and a BR of 13.7
i think you underestimate how many casual players grew up with top gun or love top gun

eh warthunders biggest rise in playercount was when the f4s and mig23 were the highest premiums I doubt anything will ever beat those sales numbers
F-14D with full potential would’ve
but sadly they’re scared of earning money

If it’s viable for a separate suggestion that’s something at least, especially with the existing F-14D suggestion probably moved to implemented suggestions after the update.

Pretty much every cc on every platform is going to justifiably hate on Gaijin’s implementation of the F-14D which will likely impact its sales
considering I dont think it ever couldve gotten aim120 it wouldve just been over BR’d and then everyone who bought it wouldve had a very bad experience due to the terrible compression at that BR rn

why would someone buy it over the F/A-18C Early which gets a Lower BR and Better AIM-7Ps and a Better radar, and a better FM and better RWR

Top gun gained a younger audience in 2022.
Also, the F-14D comes shortly after the 40th annniversary of Top Gun where they had both movies in theater again lol, just like F-14A and Top Gun 2
Let’s be honest it’ll sell because it’s an F-14 alone.
About half the people I know who play started because they wanted the F-14, and even more stopped after seeing how long it’d take to get and that they couldn’t buy one.
