Major Update "Firebirds" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

yeah the Typhoon’s got this, with its AESA radar that still isn’t in service with the RAF

Doesnt need it. CAPTOR-M was apparently far better than most early AESA and even to this day, can easily keep up. Which makes you wonder how good CAPTOR-E is going to be when it is installed soon.

CAPTOR-M carrying Typhoons reliably beat AN/APG-81 carrying F-35s in exercises

its easily the best PD radar that was put on a fighter until now

and as Nagisei said the salestalk and Fearmongering that fog up the reality of AESA radars really show for this example

Yep, which is no surprise considering it was based upon Blue Vixen which was superior to the AN/APG-73 but about half the size and it was in service from 1993.

the prototype for CAPTOR-C, ECR-90A was ~30% more effective than Blue Vixen, which was the best radar of it’s time and is currently the best radar in game

CAPTOR-C is the third upgrade to the original ECR-90 and it was chosen over an AESA based radar ( CAESAR) for the first EFTs

CAPTOR-M has a long list of further improvements over CAPTOR-C, the full efficency still being secret

ERC-90A has twice the power of AN/APG65 btw

Usually, I think I feel this bug having a little bit of an affect in the FA2 of late

https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/9yF0BF3nNrFl

and really want more search modes to be modeled for it. At the moment, I almost prefer Foxhunter. But yes, the Blue Vixen is almost certainly better than most other nation top tier radars.

And yeah, despite probably being pitted against AESA radars, I dont think teh Typhoon is going to struggle one bit.

Who needs Brimstones when they already should have JSOW, SDBs and AGM-179s

JSOW and SDBs are glide bombs right? So good, but would need to be dropped from height to outrange Brimstones. Both would be better compared to something like Storm Shadows rather than Brimstones.

AGM-179 from what I can see have about a 8km range? Around half the range of Brimstone 1 and 1/7th the range of Brimstone 2. Only major advantage over Brimstone is the variable warhead (I think) and cheaper per unit cost.

Next week

Probably next Friday

How is that different than every other tech tree I game minus the US? What makes Britain so special to get a fantasy plane here?

If Japan can get it’s proposed aircraft then I can’t see why Britain or similar minor nations if subs or nations with connections can fill that roll.

I mean hell we asked for our F-111K but that got denied and have the Aussie C instead

F-15E will be effectively Tornado IDS ASSTA in ground RB, and with the ability to carry AIM-120s for self-defense.

An F-16C with -229s would be MORE than welcome

Obviously it’s quite far away, but based on the likelihood that we aren’t getting Hornets in this update, I’m betting we’ll get them in the December update, probably alongside that SEAD mission type and mayyybe Submarine CBT, though that’s probably thinking wishfully

They say tech trees have no rule but it’s clear they do.

If Britain had a cancelled project then a similar commonwealth aircraft will replace it.
If a nation’s hasn’t got anything else and non of it’s subs can deliver then it’s a proposal.

The F-117C tick those boxes for stealth aircraft

What are you talking about?
What does F-117C have to do with this?

because britian is one of the few nations that could get an F117 more why I asked for it, and you know japan getting the AJ when they could have gotten a sub tree or a proto F2 instead of a fantasy plane
