Major Update "Firebirds" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

Not an unreasonable addition, but would be DOA

confusion

What does this even mean

I mean, that is already the case. They limit in game AESA to one beam.
Looks at ASRAD-R

It means

So I can tick a box

We just don’t know man. Jamming pods aren’t in game, and USSR/RU EW is the best there is. Plus Irbis and others can track and target multiple targets with a PESA anyways.

Imo, it will all be a washout because of a combination of real life tech and competitive gameplay.

Maybe.

It’ll be awful in air unless it’s around 8.3/8.7, and won’t be viable in ground depending on the BR.

I wonder if the effective range for the Radar is dependant on beam angle in game

wouldn’t effect the ASRAD too much tho as the antenna spins

There is also the option of shipping variants of the aircraft with the export AESA where available as well.

I agree China would be fun with a subtree, but they shouldn’t pick Singapore and Indonesia.

There’s plenty of interesting countries to choose from, it is simply not necessary to pick these two unless you specifically want to spite the people living there and the people that were looking forward to these countries when originally leaked as subtree for Japan.

Though some SEA countries I’d really like to see for China, like Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia. An Su-30SME from Myanmar for example would give them a thrust vectoring Su-30SM derivative to contrast their own non thrust vectoring MKK and MK2 models.

I’d be unsure about the RU EW part…

in the west the most effective EW is on the current Typhoon versions and we cant really compare the russian EW to it because they havent been compared under real world conditions…yet? hopefully never

China already got Su-35 with TVC

No. Radars in game are made in a very simple way.
Draw a line equal to max range, and then turn it up by a designated amount of degrees. No limits like that, so for example Pantsir, looks with range of 50km at an angle of 81.

Sure, they also have a thrust vectoring J-10 variation. I’m just saying I’d think an Su-30SME would be nice, not that they lack their own options.

If anything most problems the Chinese tree has can just be solved by adding or fixing their domestic stuff. For them a subtree is less needed and more of a nice add-on.

that’s what I thought

a good implementation of PESA range would only reduce the effectiveness of russain* equipment and it would be a very complicated addition

(*and german WWII radars but those dont matter anyways)

Well, here is a range envelope of a random PESA radar

Premium =} an OBJECT (prototype) , exact is unknown due to to many possibility’s with 3 digits , but most likely (based on the fact they where previously leaked) are the Object 430 or 140 ( i have my doubts )

yes that’s one of the issues that all phased array antennas share

u sure
Here you go, another PESA radar
(ignore firing envelope)
