Major Update “Firebirds” — DEV Server Changelog (12.11.2024)

The AGM-123 and the Martel’s seems to be phasing through targets much less but the Martel’s still seem to be targeting the highest point of ships in my testing.

It isn’t even that good of a fix for the Kormorans as they seem to be targeting turrets more than the superstructures of ships.

Sounds promising then.

This is what we should see for the Kormoran:

Yeah I posted about them here.

Honestly the change sounded promising but turned out to change very little about them.

Hopefully you can get this report forwarded to the Devs.

I’ve noticed that for all aircraft with TGP MFD screens and can carry TV guided weapons the zoom level of the MFD is overridden by the zoom levels of the TV/IR seeker view.

[DEV]TGP MFD Zoom overridden by equipped Mavericks.

I thought at first that it was only affecting the F-15E however after testing it seems to be affecting all suitable aircraft.

Also it would be nice if these other cockpit/MFD related reports could be passed along to the Devs.

F-14B - unable to display LANTIRN output on MFD

Illogical behavior of targeting pod camera
This one would be especially great to see fixed if in the future we get the ability to use the TGP MFD screen instead of the dedicated TGP view.

[DEV] AV-8B Plus missing locked target designation on HUD

[DEV] JA37 (all) HUD inaccuracies

I get that some fixes like the HUDs are being worked on and may not be ready to be added within the Firebirds update but some acknowledgement of the reports go a long way in making the community feel heard when bringing up long standing issues within the game.

Been waiting for this for a long time. I hope they don’t add this premium with non-functional equipment. And I hope they fix the other ones too.

As stated in the changelog, DX12 seems to use the CPU more efficiently than DX11.

In my environment, there is a clear increase in FPS in situations where the frame rate is limited by CPU bottlenecks, such as air combat.

There is also a clear difference in the FPS record challenge in ULQ.

Even if you’re not interested in increasing the frame rate, selecting DX12 should reduce your electricity bill by a few watts, which should make it a little cheaper.

If you read only a few notes down…

Well, Sun City limits were definitely increased… 1 km each side, LOL. I was exploring two new city areas behind the spawns.

looks like glass reflections

The shadows are just way too strong. Almost looks like if the contrast were cranked to the max

Gaijin, since you have decided to give the Ki-102 Otsu practice shells in lieu of AP shells, why not give it its bombload?

Ki-102b lacking bombs // Gaijin.net // Issues

This has been an ongoing issue for 11 years. I don’t know how you even released the plane without giving it a bombload originally

the dev server client does not seed
“localhost:8111/indicators” data?

Here’s my update!

Dev before, RT Ultra: 30 FPS
Dev now, RT Ultra: 60 FPS

Dev before, water-related RT disabled: 60 FPS
Dev now, water-related RT disabled: 75 FPS

Very significant improvement!

With the water-related RT features disabled, I get 80 FPS, having everything else on Ultra.

That’s great to hear :D

Maybe they’ll change some things before the update to make it even better.

I hope it will be even more stable and optimised by the time it hits live!

But, in worst case scenario, I’ll disable all water and reflection RT settings and play at 80-ish FPS with everything else on Ultra.

Much better outlook than not being able to run RT at all, as it was in the first Dev Server, where enabling it dropped me to 30 FPS, lol

In any case, the most important improvements of RT in my opinion are the enviornment and shadow ones. Reflections are much less relevant, and seemingly, the most resource-heavy ones too.

TSR is amazing too! FSR too. I am going to compare them to know which one is better hahah. None of them affects performance too much.

EDIT: FSR is UNREAL. Amazing!!!

Before I was getting 30-50fps max settings w/ max RT

Now I’m getting 90-120fps but I think part of the reason why I’m getting more FPS is because I can’t run TAA with SSAA anymore in the dev, only FXAA.

The ray tracing seems far more stable now but it is causing some issues in cockpit view.

Hopefully this gets fixed before the update releases

Yeah i think i will also tweak some settings once it’s live. Being on a 180hz monitor i was getting some stuttering given the fps i got. But i’m glad it’s stable on others too.
