R-73M is on par with any other modern first gen IIR missile, it has a dual color channel image processing, so very good IRCCM, which mind you is the first successor to the R-73 which the devs even said had IRCCM on par with the Aim-9X (I’m assuming the first of the X series). So that must place the R-73M somewhere in the middle of that pack of missiles.
Allegedly the export variant, the E is actually supposed to have slightly more range, and there were plans at one point to mas produce a variant with an extended range boost on it.
There’s still R-74, R-74M, and R-74M2 to go, and they all make the missile a little deadlier each time. The M has a +/-75 degrees off-boresight capability, and that’s with a better seeker than the 73M. Long term, the R-74M2 will be superseded by Izdeliye-300, which looks a lot like a combination of an ASRAAM and an IRIS-T.
Well i don’t think they are bring them out soon i think its just due to modelling MICA so while at it get a model for MICA IR for the same time for when they add it at some point

Fox 3 is a term for saying that you shot an active radar homing missle at someone in nato, not a missle

What domestic chinese IR AAM would there be for them to add? The PL-10 is too powerful and the PL-9 seems like a downgrade compared to the R-73, so it would make little sense to add that unless they add some plane that can only carry PL-9s

BVRAAM is just one additional keystroke
and ARH would be even simpler
PL-8B will have to make do now. Alternatively, the M2K-5EI can be introduced during the next update to supplement Chinese domestic designs.

Well, I can’t find much info on it, but the specs that I did find listed smaller off-boresight angles and lower max overload
whats makes the R-73 lethal is its Thrust vectoring. Which is a powerful thing but it shouldnt be the Sole deciding factor on adding more powerful missiles

If the PL-8Bs are that much of an improvement that they would require a BR increase it would be better to add seperate versions of the planes
