Can anybody explain to me why is chally 3(P) rank 8 while the only advantage that it has over 2a6 leo at rank 7 is thermals? in every other way 2a6 is superior

-Rank has nothing to do with how good a vehicle is
-2A6 and others might get moved up to Rank 8 anyway

That is why I said it was intended for service.
The Armée de l’Air simply prefered a light weight jet at the time.
Dassault also was marketing the Jet for sale.

DA2 on the other hand was never intended for service and was a prototype for a programme that was indeed finalised…

It wans’t even really considered by the French air force iirc
It was made a few years after the Mirage 2K was introduced and during a period where france was trying to make modern aircrafts with other countries. There was simply no need for this plane

A EF prototype which would be a heavily gimped Tranche 1 so to speak would be quickly be overshadowed and underwhelming for the most part.

Rhm used the CR2 they were given for LEP as the demonstrator for the 130mm L/51, but that wasn’t part of the LEP project
